I was just on the ROH website, looking at the store as they had some new DVD releases and saw a brand new one called Guest Booker. It's basically a new kind of shoot interview where Gabe Sapolsky re-books the new ECW from June 06 to the December PPV. I watched the trailer and it looked really good. Oh and i checked out the people who make the series www.kayfabecommentaries.com and they also did a Kevin Sullivan guest booker where he re-booked the year 1984 in WWE where his task was to make WWE big...but without Hogan. So yeah, has anyone got these? What are they like? Whats the running time?

I got it and its pretty kick ass! Gabe does have some absurd ideas. But then again he does have some really good ones. I think he would definitely improve ECW, but there would be parts people would just not be up for. He basically rebooks ECW into an ROH show. Every match is like 30 mins. and he doesnt take into account any backstage stuff, vinettes, promos, etc. Everything is JUST wrestling and that wont work for tv.
Gabe has some good ideas, but he could never produce a tv show, cuz if you added all the matches up, and the rest of the stuff you would have a 4 hour show. Besides, anyone who wants to push Matt Hardy to the moon and have him go over half the roster just b/c he is Matt Hardy and then treat a guy like Val Venis as a lackey is seriously missing the boat.
I do highly recommend it, b/c it is interesting. I think it ran about an hour. And he only books 6 months of ECW. The ending is pretty cool and I would love to see Part 2, as it seems he had some good ideas for the future.

Ah cool. May get it sometime if it's cheap. For only an hour it's a bit expensive.
You seen the Kevin Sullivan one? It's a little before my time but still very intresting.

I dont respect a guy who is willing to book his wife into an angle that she is having an affair with another wrestler and force them to kayfabe it out. Thats just a receipe for disaster and guess what.........he got divorced. Idiot! Besides, I dont think Sullivan has any clue of 1984 and the E.

I've read a review on the guest booker with Gabe and it sounded like it was really good. I wanna pick it up as well but for something that only runs an hour it's kind of expensive.

I was a little dissapointed at the time. He only books 6 months of ECW and its not really even 6 molnths. He just briefly runs over the 4 months in between the first month and the last month, which is the December PPV. I'm glad I got it.....but wished there was more.

What's the chances of getting one of the ROH grab bags with it in it? ;D
Sounds interesting, what's the length of it?(Gabe's shoot) and is it just a straight interview or is there clips of some sort meshed in for visual stimulant?

There are no ECW clips. Its not a shoot. They sit at a round table and discuss ECW. They begin with a blank canvas and a few guidelines. Gabe builds a roster with ECW and current E stars, only using 1 RAW and 1 Smackdown guy. He then plots out what he is going to do with ECW, angles, stories, setting, house shows, etc.

Just watched the Gabe Guest Booker spot. Very well done, better than i thought.
If he booked the whole thing it would of lasted absolutley ages. He just briefly outlines everthing. The end result is great, he sells all the matches well and basically puts on a bloody damn good show.
I thought it was great, lasted around the 80 minute mark.

I watched it last night and thought it was real good.
However, I don't think Gabe has the greatest grasp of the WWE style. He didn't put into account show times too much, as far as the typical TV structure.
He did portray the ideas of what most smarks want to see on the shows with mis-used and underrated talent being used in a positive light, as well as keeping a large portion of the old ECW style as much a part of the brand as he could.
The storylines were compelling for the most part, especially everything with Punk's transition from a face to a heel. He didn't soo much elaborate as to why he would have Orton as champion, other than the fact that it'd be seen as a punishment for him, but he didn't say what would really drive Orton's on-air character. Personally, the Legend Killer gimmick would have worked best, as far as Orton wanting to kill the ECW legacy and taking their title in the process.
Flair's storyline is something we may actually see with the World Heavyweight Title in the near future. To me, his December to Dismember ending had a Barely Legal feel to it, with the veteran finally getting the elusive title win. Fun stuff all around.
