Okay, i got the game a couple of day's ago and love it. so i got to thinking about organizing a tourny to see who's the best at madden '08 here at the wf forums. this isn't the official sign-up, this is just a post to see how many people would/will sign up to be apart of this. if this get's going it will be a bracket style tournament with the seeding being determined by drawing names out of a hat.the only rule is you have to have xbox live. i may choose to add that you can only use one team throughout the tourny but i havn't made a decision on that yet. so let me kow if you're interested by replying guy's.
EDIT: Yeah, we're gonna get this started. For now it will be a 8 man Tourny, but if more than 10 people want in, i'll make it a 16 man tourny.I've also decided to add that you can only use 1 team For the length of the tournament.so just reply with what your gamertag is and what team you're going to use then i'll edit the post and update the info.

We did this last year, and it fell apart toward the end, which I believe was Brian, Kliquid, and I. But I guess I'll sign up with the Falcons and Joey Harrington, because I can't stand the whole mobile quarterback headache.

im not joining or anything because i think the 360 version is one of the worst games I've ever played... but to kliquid:
id suggest you try the regular ps2 or xbox version of madden (yet again, the ps2/xbox systems versions are better...) and i could send you an explanation on how to get detailed stats in franchise mode and whatnot.
on top of that, the game plays more sim-like.. it's a little boring because it's the same thing really as last years, but atleast it's more realistic than the 360's mode. has accerlated clock, some other craptoo... etc. and you can fix a lot of things easier.
i rented it and it's more enjoyable than the 360 version... but it still sucks not having a next-gen football game after 3 years now.

Why the hell do you hate Madden so much? i know its not a great game buts its not as horrible as you try and make it seem. Every thread about madden has you saying that "Madden is still  ing terrible". If its so horrible why do you continue to post in threads about it? You complain about how fake and unreal it is but you want things like accelerated clock and to change player positions.How often do players switch positions besides maybe from left tackle to right tackle and defensive end to defensive tackle. The only one thats notable is Devon Hester to wide receiver. All I am saying is why do you continue to visit threads and complain instead of just not playing it? |

But, I'm going to respond anyways. I've been playing Madden since Madden '93. I've always been a fan of the franchise because of how it plays. Yes, it has changed over the years, but never has the change been this dramatic -- and this BAD. When Madden made their game engine changes in the past, I always loved them. They were actually better than the previous version. This one isn't. The game is just terrible. The controls are bad, the graphics are nothing special, the players run like robots, the tackle breaking is completely unrealistic, there is still very little special teams blocking, the computer A.I. has not improved in the slightest, playing the pass is unbelievably difficult while playing the run is unbelievably easy (unless the running back gets into an animation where he breaks 6 tackles at once). I don't know why people even like it at all, to be honest with you. I've tried it on Playstation 3 and XBox 360, and both are bad. I bought the game for 360 last year -- and I ended up playing it about 3 times. The Playstation 2 version was flat-out a better game. Judging by what Nick said, I will probably end up doing the same thing this year. It's crap, man. Why is the old game BETTER THAN THE NEW ONE? I'm tired of EA half-assing their games. They piss in our coffee and tell us it's "Taster's Choice," if you will. |

Just because its not better than an older version doesn't mean it isn't a good game. And theres no way it could be worse than Madden 06 on the 360.

Its probably the best Madden I have ever played. |

Games are supposed to get BETTER as they build these new 'next gen' systems and as they put all these new features in them... Instead, it's just a trainwreck. Of the next generation Madden games, the 360 version of Madden '08 is by far the best... But that's like being the fastest kid at the special olympics. |
