I want to start a band.
And not just any band...
I want to incorporate steetpunk, ska, old school punk,rockabilly,doo-wop, and sort of a Beach Boys sound all into one thing.
It would like...Beach Boys meet the Buzzcocks, meets The Exploited, meets Sublime.
I've already come up with some stuff off the top of my head, and I just thought that it's a pretty good idea.
It's like the kind of thing you'd expect to hear at Warped Tour and Lollapolooza.
Music has expanded so much beyond just one genre per artist.

An Interesting Idea...a very interesting idea and sound. And I think this would go in the Entertainment Board .

I really dont think you could mix ska with doo wop to be honest, and if you did it would be total crap. But go ahead prove me wrong...

I really dont think you could mix ska with doo wop to be honest, and if you did it would be total crap. But go ahead prove me wrong... Actually you can. Earliest incarnation of (Bob Marley &) The Wailers did that sort of thing very well, however, you can never find a good enough sound quality album to properly enjoy it. I want to start a band when i get good enough and incorporate the Ricky Wilson guitar sound (B-52's) speed and precision of Gogol Bordello, vocal stylings along the lines of Mike Patton, Serj Tankian and Matt Barlow, add a bit of a punk edge to it, possibly Megadeth style solos and speed, a lot of electronic sound. Ideally i'm trying to do something like Fear Factory's Demanufacture album but not quite as heavy with more of a punk/new wave kinda sound to it and an extreme energy in it. Possibly a new style of music, but obviously this would take a while to get right. Good luck to you.

And.....good luck with that. If you decide a mix of genres for your band......you'll just end up making different songs with different genre styles in them.

And.....good luck with that. If you decide a mix of genres for your band......you'll just end up making different songs with different genre styles in them. It depends. If you pick genres that are incredibly far apart, such as Euphoric Dance and Doom Metal, you probably won't make decent music, but if you were to combine hardcore punk and happy hardcore, you would probably get pretty good music. As long as you don't try to combine it with emo, you should be ok.

Yeah, I've always thought of being a DJ, too. It's been a side thing since my early teens.
