This is exactly what I am talking about. All these uneducated consumers pissing their money away on ****. BLU-RAY AND HD-DVD ARE VIRTUALLY THE SAME THING. THEY LOOK AND SOUND PRETTY MUCH IDENTICAL. 1080p is 1080p. Most people don't even have a 1080p TV anyway, so you're not getting all you can out of your high definition movies, regardless of format. The only real differences are that fact that Blu-Ray movies and players (and yes that includes your $600 POS Playstation 3's) INSANELY overpriced. That and, unlike HD-DVD, Blu-Ray IS NOT a complete technology. It wasn't finalized, and therefore was not ready to be sold commercially and it still isn't. I cannot believe that the Sony faithful are just putting up with this like it's no big deal. Some people will just put up with anything they are handed. It's because of these a$$holes that I am probably going to have to pay around $40 per movie as soon as HD-DVD goes under Yes, but Sony know that people will buy it anyway because it appears to be winning the whole Blu-Ray/HD-DVD war. They know that people are stupid and go for the better product for one of various reasons: They think expensive is better Bragging rights Keeping up with the times And various other reasons. By the way, what's with the PS3 comment ya hypocrite? You're saying people are being biased over the Blu'Ray and HD-DVD, aren't you being a bit biased against the PS3? This is exactly what I am talking about. All these uneducated consumers pissing their money away on ****. BLU-RAY AND HD-DVD ARE VIRTUALLY THE SAME THING. It's because of these a$$holes that I am probably going to have to pay around $40 per movie as soon as HD-DVD goes under I'm sorry. I thought you said 600 dollars for a PS3. I also think I saw you call it a piece of ****. Yeah, I am the uneducated one. Also, I wasn't just sticking up for Blu-Ray. I mean HD all around. You sounded as if you were one of those people who refused to upgrade, just to rebel and make a point, thinking you will stop everyone else from "wasting their money". Why should I pay $600 for a PS3 (because only the $600 version is worth it) when I could do almost everything with the 360 that I already own? Is the PS3 a piece of ****? Not really, no. But when you factor in the price, then it becomes a piece of ****. I don't think that the PS3 is going to decide the format war. There are many people out there that don't play video games and don't want a console be the centerpiece of their home theater. All it (the PS3) has done is kept Blu-Ray from going under immediately. The "war" is far from over. Trust me. dark knight, how did I sound like I was refusing to upgrade to HD? Clearly I'm standing up for HD-DVD. I own an XBOX 360 and a high definition projector and I am in the process of building HD projector from scratch for 's sake.

The PS3 isn't $600, unless I missed something... The most expensive one I know of is $500.

Whatever. I don't care about it, so why would I keep up with their price drops? $500 is still too much for a console.

You're not going to get me to argue that PS3 is better than XBox 360, because I own an XBox 360... But the PS3 definitely has some features that make it a worthwhile system. Aside from it being the best and cheapest Blu Ray player, it has some quality games, the controllers are pretty nice, it comes with a wireless device (as opposed to having to buy one for $80-100 like I had to with my XBox 360), etc. You're making it sound like the PS3 is garbage. It's not. If you don't have a 360, I can see why people would buy a PS3.

Watch a Blu-Ray DVD on a good TV Don't just watch it...listen to it. The sound is the best part about it. This is exactly what I am talking about. Blu-Rays are discs that hold more information than a stardard dvd or a hd-dvd. and thats the only diffrence

and thats the only diffrence More space = better picture quality, better sound quality, more features, and it obviously lessens the need for multiple discs for one movie.

That, and there aren't many things that the PS3 can do that the 360 cannot. I'm not saying one is better than the other.... actually, all I am trying to say that Blu-Ray is a bad idea. It's a horrible waste of money. Buy HD-DVD so the major studios realize that they ed up and they're either go neutral again or HD-DVD exclusive.

For fairness sake... Making an XBox 360 wireless and having an HD-DVD player with it:Final Price: $549.97Making a Sony Playstation 3 wireless and having a Blu Ray playerFinal Price: $399
Hmm... Seems like PS3 is actually cheaper for watching movies and using it wirelessly on the internet.

Most sane people will not buy a toy to watch movies. Let alone pay $300-$500 for the toys. I don't know where you get that the PS3 is only $399? I just looked at Costco.com and a pack with the player, game and Spider-Man 3 movie is priced over $500.

However, the 80 GB PS3 has been discontinued, so the only one is the $400 40 GB PS3.

The best Blu Ray player is the Playstation 3. www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=abcat0102004&type=category - And the HD-DVD players are still very expensive. As you can see, the one that can be hooked up to the XBox 360 is cheaper than anything that Best Buy carries. I don't know where you get that the PS3 is only $399? I just looked at Costco.com and a pack with the player, game and Spider-Man 3 movie is priced over $500. I get it because that's how much it costs, as was shown by the link I posted.

That's what game consoles are now that aren't made by Nintendo. They are both computers capable of High definition video output, they play movies, music, games, the 360 is getting an IPTV service and both have the ability to hook up to your PC and they can share media files that way. The Playstation 2 was a budget priced DVD player when it came out. A good chunk of people worldwide had a PS2 as their first player. The technology succeeded because it's penetration in to the American and Japanese homes was massive early on. The PS2 is the most purchased game console of all time with over 120 million units. The PS3, as it stands right now there are 10.5 million units in houses across the world.

It is a TOY aimed at KIDS...IT'S A VIDEO GAME SYSTEM FIRST, and VIDEO GAMES ARE TOYS; with BR capabilities second. When they came out; barely anyone knew about the br capabilities, and sales were abysmal until maybe mid last year when this HD crapstarted being pushed harder. Hell; it wasn't even advertised that it also had a BR player until a month or two ago.

The same way that a computer is not a "TOY".

Wow. You are a complete and total ignoramus, and jackass, for thinking a piece of technology such as PS3 or 360 is a TOY for children. You sir, are a complete douche. Video Games are not toys.
