Ok, Me and my parents have agreed to get a new dog at the end of the month. Right now we have a pomeranian, A bigger Pomeranian, Not the smaller ones, and he's great. But now since were in a big place we have alot more room, were ready to add a new pet to our lovely pet family. I really love Schnauzers... And my dad loves Boxers. We were talking before on which one we should get and which one we would rather have. Personally I feel Boxers are great dogs, And the same with Schnauzers. I think Schnauzers are adorable... But so are Boxers... See, It's kinda hard to decide. I feel it'd be nice to have a bigger dog for the first time ever, Since all our past dogs were Pomeranians. So, I thought I'd make a thread, Just to get some opinions... Feedback on which dog might be a better choice... etc. If anyone has/had a Schnauzer or Boxer please give me some details on how they are... how they act with other animals... etc.
Thanks Guys!

I'm not too familiar with those dogs but I suggest a collie. They are adorable and ever so loyal.

Some of my relatives and friends have had boxers. They are good dogs but love to jump. Check out this website for info on all dog breeds. dogbreedinfo.com/a-z.htm It's an excellent site.

The only dog Ive ever owned is a pomeranian, and shes pretty big at about 10 pounds. How bigs yours? I used to have another dog when I was young, but he died of old age and my memories are vague of him. Im sorry that I dont know about Schnauzers or Boxers.

I've owned many o' dogs in my lifetime, but I don't think we've ever looked for a specific breed. We generally just go to one of the 'last chance' shelters and pick up one from there. They're generally free (or very cheap) to a good home and you save their life.

Both great dogs. I second Kliquid on getting one from a shelter or at least a mixed breed. Nothing against purebreds, but in general they have less health issues and you're helping a good cause. I've noticed the majority also have better temperaments (My wife and I have both worked with Vets in the past and seen a lot of dogs)
BUT! If you have to choose that's a hard one. I had a schnauzer as a kid and she was very loyal to us, but was wary of strangers, not mean just very protective until she saw the person was okay. Really great dog though, they don't shed, but you've got to get them groomed. She did eventually get along with our second dog who was a Jack Russell. So to get along with a crazy breed like that you've got to have some good social skills! Depends on the dog though.
Boxers I've always wanted too, but they can be very rowdy even up to like age 4 with jumping and such. I've only seen one breeder in my life that had calm well behaved young boxers. They do shed little hairs like crazy, but are so full of joy. My neighbor has one and she's great, but they've had a time keeping her from jumping on people. And she'll knock you over.

I was going to recommend that site. I even submitted pics of my dog under the Cairn Terrier section. I used that site a lot when I bought my dog.

My dogs are half boxer. Boxers are awesome because they use their front paws for EVERYTHING. They grab you, grab each other, grab toys, and even fight with their front paws. As a matter of fact, I was able to teach mine in particular how to high five. I even taught the one to high five and spar with me.

I've always loved Basset Hounds and they seem like very lovely dogs. My auntie has got a boxer and she's very active, she'll jump at you and try to sit on your lap and try to lick you She's a lovely dog though and will do no harm.

I like smaller dogs so I would pick the schnauzer. Smaller dogs tend to be more vocal than the bigger dogs but I don't mind.

I'm dog walker.
Schnouzers are nice dogs, but they Bark a lot, so if you have neigbors that complain a lot I do not recommend them.
are you getting an American or an English Boxer. American Boxers are mean and require a lot of training. It is often difficult to get the aggressiveness out of an animal. American Boxers are up their with Pit Bulls in terms of dogs that people need to be aware of. English boxers on the hand are great dogs and I highly recomend them.

Schnauzers and Boxers are both notorious for having health problems.
knightpryde, as far as your comment about pit bulls go, you are very much wrong. I've already went on about this to people here though, so I won't even bother. I guess it isn't your fault you're uneducated.

Get a boxer puppy. I love boxers. My mom just got a new puppy, a 9 week old Beagle named Lexi. I wanted to take her home with me so bad, but my dog would hate me for it. He's going on 9, and this is his house. He's used to having the run of the place, and he's too old to be forced to share his things all of a sudden. It'd be a big change for him. www.buypuppiesdirect.com/boxer_puppies_for_sale.htm
