WWF IN YOUR HOUSE 1996
Formats
Playstation
Saturn
PC
Roster
Bret Hart
Shawn Michaels
HHH (first appearance in WWF/E game)
Owen Hart
Vader (first appearance in WWF/E game)
Ahmed Johnson (first appearance in WWF/E game)
British Bulldog
Goldust (first appearance in WWF/E game)
Undertaker
Ultimate Warrior (was fired from WWF so was not on the ads for the game)
This game was the follow up to Wrestlemania the arcade game and while that game was a beat em up with wrestlers it still kept a lot of wrestling elements WWF In Your House took it a step further and the main gimmick if you will of the game is that each superstar had there own stage( I will list at the end) such as Bret had Stu's dungeon Owen had his house of cards Goldust had a movie theater and so on. The game features digitized superstars just like the last game although I do not feel they look as good as Wrestlemania the arcade game. they did up the superstar count by adding a extra 2 making the total 10 all were excellent choices.
The control system for this game was the same as WM except your superstars now had more special moves sadly instead of giving them more wrestling moves they gave the wrestlers moves like Bulldogs leash whip and Bret could shoot fire balls from his glasses (no I am not joking) the superstars have a lot more moves than they did in Wrestlemania but sadly most are gimmick moves.
My main complaint with this game is that if you read my review about WM the arcade game I sad that they made all the superstars feel like individuals here it feels like it doesn't matter who you play as they all have the same feel. for example in WM only bigger superstars like Luger and Bam Bam could lift the others over there head it gave them a unique feature here though all the superstars have this ability as well as projectile attacks.
As I said about WM you can see the Mortal Kombat influence and it is even more so here as each superstar has his own fatality some are great HBK for example drops the set of his heartbreak hotel set on them Owen drops his king of hearts throne on them and then we have HHH who proceeds to suck them up in a bag it really is a WTF moment first time you see it lol.
This game featured 4 player which was not available om WM. The single player mode was not as good as WM the arced game gone were the cool little intros instead you got a static pic of the wrestlers and Vince would say who was wrestling. You had the same IC and WWF title modes from the first game and you also had a mode called season all this was, was you would just face all the wrestlers one on one there was no story lines or anything. You got the same ending no mater which mode you chose you would get a short FMV video of your chosen superstar
Which does make you want to complete it with all the wrestlers.
this game fro me turned out to be a real disappointment I got it for Xmas in 1996 put in in and was blown away by the FMV intro this is going to be great I though and found my self going back to WM after a hour or so and not really playing this as much as I thought I would have lol. The presentation that I praised so high in Wm is not as good here the commentary is a bit better and it is provided by Vince and Mr perfect but that is it the one thing that i will say it has over WM is the sound as the track from the WWF Full Metal Album plays the intro and select screen (Sorry name of song escapes me as I write this). One thing that bugs me to this day is they pus so much attention to giving each superstar his own stage that this could have been made to make actual arenas. While it is not terrible its not a patch on WM the arcade game. Some features that Acclaim said would be in this game never made it in such as a full season mode with interviews from the announcers and superstars as well as weapons which early into development they said would play a big part as well as hidden characters.
One more thing I want to add is the big rumor of this game was if you input a code Diesel and Razor Ramon could be selected this was proven false much to the annoyance of many fans lol.
Graphics 7.5/10
Sound 8.5/10
Gameplay 5/10
Lifespan 4/10
Roster 8/10
OVERALL 6.5/10
EXTRA STUFF
here are some pics of various superstars being motion captured for the game. I think these are really cool and if you find stuff like this interesting you should track down the pal realsese (not sure about USA) of IN your house 4 on video it shows you how they made WM the arcade game the same feature was also aired on RAW in 1995
Thats it folks this to me ages to do as I took all the pics my self so if you view please reply
thanks
