I hope civic duty is the right term. Oh well.
With the past two week's cards and results being late and all, I'm hard-pressed to blame the team of Kyzer and Drakz for any trouble since so far they've done a fantastic job as owners. I'm usually not so passive, but you gotta give props to them for renewing the intrigue in the fed again and making matches mean something. Sure there's things they do I'd change, but on a whole I think they're going in a great direction. Kudos.
However this brings me to my point. I hate to sound like the old guy again, but back in the older days of WFWF, dating back even to the Vote fed, things ran a little differently. Back then, it wasn't JUST about writing your RolePlay and winning or losing. What you have to realize is that RP feds were designed not just for the competitive nature, but for the community. A RolePlaying community improves everything by ten fold. People post RolePlays, then everyone replies to everyone else's, better or worse, they reply. They reply and by reading what people think you actually improve, even if they're not as good as you. For example, back in 03 when I first started the opening narrative intro thing, I was very shaky about it but it got over so well that I kept it, and now it's one of my best trademarks. But it's not just the reading and replying, though that is CRUCIAL, it's other things. Stuart used to write previews for all the PPVs covering the feud history and the two superstars and why it would be a good match. People like MB35, myself, and KI2 used to make banners for PPVs and weekly shows and all of that. RPers would write matches for the owners on a weekly basis. The point is, there are many things we could, and should be doing for this fed.
Now I don't mean to sound hypocritical, but I do work a full time job. But as you all have seen recently I've spent my time writing great roleplays, creating banners, and helping guys like Trent Draven and Calvin Lee with their RPs. But there's a lot of people who don't even work at all, and I feel like if you're seriously dedicated to RPing, you need to help out the staff and make things run smoother. Reply to RPs when you get a chance, help write matches sometimes, hell maybe someone could find a knack with match previews. These are all things people could do to help, and by forcing two guys to do all of the work every week is just going to lead to burnout.
