I stare into your blank eyes wondering if you will ever notice me. You look at me yet you never see the real me. I close my eyes tightly trying to make my mind surface to somewhere far away.
Cole: Kira? Hey, you alright?
Your words echo inside my mind, although I hear you, I can't or just won't comprehend it. I gradually open my eyes, to see you watching me intently. Your eyes glow with something I could not quite explain. I turn my head to the side and begin watching the clock. I concentrate all my energy on the ticking, so I can block out the sound of you talking.
Cole: Kira.....what's wrong with you today? You were doing great last time we talked; please tell me what’s going on.
I turn my head back to you, and give you a look from h*ll. Your eyes grow enormous, and I can see you beginning to sweat. You know I am agitated, and nothing you were going to say would calm me down. You start fidgeting with your pen for a moment, and then write something on your pad of paper. I could tell you were not comfortable and was wishing our time was up. You get up from your chair and take off your sweater, then hang it on the doorknob. You come back and lower yourself into your chair. You close your eyes and began rubbing your temples.
Cole: I'm sorry; I didn't mean to push you. I can see you are angry, and if you don't feel like talking that's fine.
The tone of your voice bothers me; it was a mixture of anger and disappointment. The way my mother sounded every time she heard I had band practice.
Kira: Don’t talk to me like a child; I swear you sound just like my mother.
You look stunned when I say this. Your mouth drops open and your eyes draw a blank. You look away and when you turn back towards me, you have the same expression you always have. A little confused, curious and annoyed. I knew you were going to change the subject because you begin rummaging through my file, trying to find something else to talk about.
Cole: So…..uhh, how’s it going with your wrestling thing?
Kira: Well, things are going pretty damn good. I won my match last week against KC McGrath, so right now I’m 2 and 0. This coming week I have a tag team match, I’m teamed with Miguel Sanchez. I’ve heard only good things about him, but the people we are against are the one’s I’m worried about. KC McGrath and Reverend, I think I’m a little more worried about Reverend though…….. He is one of the best in the WFWF.
Cole: So you are worried you won’t win this match?
Kira: Ya, guess you could say that. But it’s all good, it’s not like I can stay undefeated. Trust me I’m not that great.
The smirk on your face says everything. You know I care about this match, probably more than any of my others. I want to win this match and show everyone I have the potential to be something great. I want to be as good as Reverend, but I wasn’t so sure it was going to happen, at least not right away. I steal a glance at your face; you seem tired….tired of dealing with me.
Kira: Well…. I guess I’m going to go; I have some things I need to get done today.
I give you a little smile as I get up from the couch. The emotions in your face confuse me….it seems like you don’t want me to go now. Maybe it’s just because it’s your job to make me feel better….or is it something else?
Cole: Kira……Um, never mind. I’ll talk to you later, Bye
Kira: Oh, alright……Later.
I pick up my coat and hurry out of the room. As I opened the front door I began to feel sick. The last thing I remember is falling to the ground.
I open my eyes to find myself in the hospital. My head is throbbing with pain, and my body feels like its floating. Cole staggers into the room and over to my bedside.
Cole: Your finally awake, I’m so glad you’re alright.
Your face looks exhausted, and your eyes are wet with tears.
Kira: What’s going on? Cole….why am I here?
Cole: You had another anxiety attack, but this time it was much worse. After you came out of the office you fell and hit your head. I didn’t think you were that upset when you walked out, or I wouldn’t of let you leave.
Kira, do you remember what you were so upset about?
Kira: I guess I got a little worked up about the match, but I didn’t think I was that bad off. I felt fine until I walked out.
You keep talking but I can’t make out what you’re saying, I’m just too tired. My eyes begin to close and everything goes black.
When I awake again I’m in my bed. I look around but I don’t see anyone, all I see is Smokey at the end of the bed sleeping. Derrick strolls into the room with a surprised look on his face.
Derrick: Well, Well, looks who’s up. How are ya feelin’?
Kira: I actually feel great, my head isn’t hurting anymore.
Derrick: Well can’t imagine why it would still hurt, they gave ya some nice pain medicine at the hospital.
Kira: Wait…When did I leave the hospital?
Derrick: A few hours ago actually. I got a call from Cole asking if I could bring ya home n’ stay with ya for awhile till’ ya woke up. He had things he had to get done but he said he would call ya tomorrow to see how ya was doin’.
Kira: Oh, ok. Well thank you so much Derrick, but I bet you have a lot of things to do. So if you want to leave that’s fine, I’m tired anyways, actually all I want to do right now is get some rest.
Derrick: Well I do have a few things that need to get done. You sure you’ll be alright here by yourself?
Kira: I’ll be fine Derrick; if I need anything I will call you ok?
Derrick: You best call me; you know I’ll be right here if ya need me. I’ll call you in a little while to check in. You get some rest now.
Kira: Ok, I will. Please lock the door when you go out.
Derrick: Will do. Talk to ya later.
I hear the door close behind him and the lock click. My eyes become so heavy I can’t hold them open. The lasts thought’s I have before I fall asleep is about the match, the match that I am terrified of.
Cole: Kira? Hey, you alright?
