As the view fades in from black, we see cement. The view appears to be moving. As the view pans up, we see that the cement is the rofftop of a building. We see Shields lying in the center of the area. He's wearing a pair of blue jeans and a light brown shirt with a black eagle across the chest and appears to have a black eye. His hands are resting at his side and the fingers are tapping the cement. We hear his inner thoughts:
...We'll, I've come this far. Got to keep a level head going into this one, Shields. This match isn't about getting the simple 1-2-3. It's a battle of wits as well as skill. This is no game of "can you top this" it's a game of "can you withstand this"...
He sits up and looks out over the horizon of skyscrapers as well as small buildings and houses.
Lately I've been known for flying off the handle and going a little overboard. Well, you can kiss that Christian Shields goodbye. I've been thinking heavily about this match and all of the dangers that come with it. I know now that the old Shields would be going in like "I'm going to beat you down so bad" and "I'm going to be relentless" and all of that. Well I'm not that guy anymore. I know that to win this match, I'm going to need to take my time. I can't waste all of my energy when the bell rings. I don't think Reckless has gotten that through his head yet. I'm sure he's been training as hard as he can for this, but it still won't matter. Train for speed and agility and strength all you want Reckless, but the one area that you will not beat me at is endurance. I've been taking beatings from my trainers each day for the past few weeks as training for this, where do you think I got this shiner from? I've been training like this so I could have my mind set on getting back up after a beatdown.
Shields stands up and walks over to the banister on the edge of the rooftop.
We've travelled down a long and brutal road together, Reckless. We've been at each other's throats for weeks. You've beaten me, I've beaten you. The only thing we have in common is our common hatred for each other. Hell, on the last Felo-De-Se we couldn't even co-exist for one match. That just shows how much you and I can't wait for the gates on our cages to be opened. I can tell that from bell to bell, this one is going to be a bloodbath. Whomever is standing when that final bell tolls, you or me, will truely be Last Man Standing.
He leans against the banister and appears to be in deep thought. After a pause, he stands back up.
I'll tell you what, Reckless. If you win this match....
Pauses again for a moment.
If you win this match, Reckless. I will stand face to face with you in the center of that ring and....shake your hand. I won't like it, but I'll do it. Because if you can defeat me in this match, you will have earned it.
Shields leans against the banister again. He looks out over the horizon again as the view starts moving back. The view pans back down to the cement as it's moving backward. The view finally fades to black.
