When two figures of the same person have slight differences.
Eg. Shawn michaels in CS15 is wearing his entrance gear. but the variant has no entrance gear.
RA24 sabu is in gold pants, but theres a variant of him in blue.
Its just a slight alteration to a figure. Variants are usually tougher to find/rarer.
Hope that was of some help?

A varient is an intentional difference to a figure such as a different accesory, attire, etc. It generally occurs in different waves of figures. Waves are described as batches of figures that are sent out.
Do not get varients confused with a factory error which is an unintentional difference.
