I am very dissapointed in RA 29, period. I had very high expectations when I first saw the protos, as I'm sure we all did. I will go through the list and announce my concerns and dissapointments:
Matt Hardy- The proto was absolutely awesome, I was definitely going to get this one. The multi-colored skulls on his pants were amazing and the new scan was appreciated. We did get the new scan. The pants were generic dark green, and a totally plain figure. This is a perfect way to ruin the figure.
Shawn Michaels- Pretty consistent from proto to final product. Not much to complain about.
Edge- Detail is so much to a figure. It can make it, or break it. In this case, the proto was absolutely perfect (aside from the torso), and the design was 100% authentic and updated. Colors white, grey, red and black was turned into red, white and grey. What an impact it made on the figure, plain and simple.
Batista- Typical Batista figure, plus the new boot mold. I'm glad to see his first current yellow attire.
Melina- The proto was perfect, vibrant, glittery, absolutetly spectacular. The detail was extremely lacking from the proto, but still acceptable. I think it is a good, solid diva figure.
Candice Michelle- The proto was a red outfit with silver button-like circles. However, the final product is all red with no detail. I think that a robe would justify this, but not likely.
Mr. Kennedy- This is only a repaint from the Road to WrestleMania series 2 2-packs. Umm, not much else to say about that figure.
Now, my question to all of you is to ask one simple question:
"which figures did you want to get from the protos, but then changed your mind after you saw the final product, and why?"

I planned on getting the entire set, love the HBK, loved the Edge plus the new scan, loved the Hardy and new scan, needed a Candice and Melina in ring gear want a Kennedy in red too. But now I dunno, I'll still probably get the whole set lol I'm just pissed off about it..
I'll get a PPV 12 Matt since I still need one, put the new scan on it and that will be a solid figure.
Edge, I think I can still go with the attire, just swap torsos. I could easily add some black.
Melina, I loved the proto...the final product is kind of blah. I think the logo being changed to black from silver on her pants killed it for me. So I'll proably pass.
Candice, I still need RA 26, but I'll still get this ass the silver detail is easy to do.
HBK looks good so yes.
Kennedy, wish he had the super heavyweight torso or the new Rey torso...the heavyweight torso is HIDEOUS for Kennedy and it's ruined all of his figures. Which is why I still have my RA 19 fixed up.
Batista - will wait until I see loose pics.

Matt Hardy has skulls on the side and on his back pockets, the pants are not solid green. Its not the proto, but not as bad as you think. I'd wait until you saw some detailed loose pics or owned the figure before you formed a final opinion on it. I own the figure, therefore making my opinion the most valid.
Other than that I agree with everything.

Jimmy Jimmy: You don't have to own a figure to form a valid opinion of it. If you think a figure is crap, yet you own it, your opinion can't count for much. So in this case, given that WNH's main complaint with the Hardy figure is the lack of detail, then he doesn't need to own the figure or even see it in person, to make his opinion any more valid than your own.
Really, this set is disappointing as usual for Jakks. Anyone who's been a collector for even a short while should know this is the case 99% of the time. Very rare that Jakks improves a figure from the prototype. And if a proto is ever very detailed, it's a sure bet the final figure will lose a great deal of it.
This proves yet again why you should never pre-order based on prototypes from Jakks. I have no sympathy for anyone who pre-ordered and was disappointed in the final product. You should know better by now.
Personally, I'll probly get Edge to swap the head onto a DA figure. So the lack of detail isn't a big deal for me. (I'd have probably really hated if it was a really great paint job, since I'd really want to see it on a DA figure... now, I won't mind) Sucks for those who really wanted this outfit on the RA though.
Probably get the two diva's in their updated gear, and that's about it. I like the Hardy scan, but I'm happy with the DA one, so that's fine. The rest I was never interested in to begin with.

yea that edge is horrible. it sux. the tights suck and the headscan sux beyond belief. im just gonna wait for a better edge figure.

Wow they completely ruined the 2 best things in this set.. Matt Hardy and Edge look awful compared to the protos..

for me, Matt and Edge are two of the biggest 'Proto to Final' letdowns in Jakks history.

I was quite disappointed. I though before the protos, RA29 must be awful after the great ra28 but the protos we're great. All looked great but then MOC pics came along:
Edge- turned out bad and i wanted this one, it looked awesome
Candice- looked far more superior than RA26 and i wanted to get it
Matt- great headscan, great outift in the proto but MOC, the outfit was one boring colour, not even camo and i wanted this figure
Those were the 3 i wanted and they turned out to be the biggest disappointments. Im not sure if im going to bother to buy these figs. I dont care much for them now. It realy is frustrating. Candice's skin tone is a C grade product, its absolutely pathetic for a global company to release this crap. Dont make scan for figure is you aren't going to even get the right skintone. Does barbie release things with different skintones? Does spiderman have his spider design missing? Does batman have no batman symbol on his chest? No, they are all done correctly so jakks why can't you hold a reputation as a key global toy make in at least making a satisfactory product at the very least.

RA29 doesn't interest me at all, purely because there is no new stars. it's good that Jakks gave matt and edge a new scan, but personally i'm happy with their previous RA scans.
