“Nailed It: Fun Facts and Unreported TNA News”
For a change, I will bring some positive news about TNA. Yes I know, you are all pretty shocked about it but I have been hearing from a lot of insiders within TNA about how only negative things are being published and none of the sites publish positive news. Let I , Nick Nailer of all people bring forth that news to you.
First let me say that I have confirmed accounts that, despite what was being reported, CW Anderson, Billy Kidman, David Young and Dawn Marie were not at the tapings. I have several insiders who heard that on the net and went searching for them backstage and couldn’t find them. So I just want to dispel that rumor.
For any TNA fans that are in Universal Studios prior to waiting in line for the show, keep an eye out in front of the Universal Monster Café Entrance. A lot of times you can catch a few TNA stars sneaking off into the park for a quick ride or two. More often than not, a few hours before the show, Rhyno, SoCal Val, Elix Skipper and Traci Brooks will make a B-Line for the Mummy ride. Now don’t expect to see them in line though, they are guided to a special entrance to the front of the line and then exit out of a side exit door upon leaving the ride. A fun fact too is that David Young when he was with the company would usually get a quick ride on the Spiderman 3D in Islands of Adventures. Speaking of SoCal Val, don’t be surprised to catch her in the park with Starbucks as it’s usually pretty routine for her to have one before the tapings begin.
While I am grateful that people at the shows provide some form of Spoilers, a sad fact is that they are usually biased reports and some major factors are missed out on. I know you are reading this and thinking to yourself, “Is he for real? He seems way to biased against TNA”. Well sure, it may come off that way but I do have more positive notes for you fans.
One thing that was left out of the Spoilers was the reaction that was given The Amazing Kong. This lady is no Jobber. She has a huge following in Japan and while the crowd wasn’t sure how to take her at first, they were popping for her by the end of the match. Not only that, the boys in the back were applauding her for her performance. They gave her a standing ovation upon her return to the back.
It’s nice that a vast majority of the guys in TNA are there watching the monitors. It’s comforting more so because they are there for encouragement and not pointing out the mistakes and ragging on their colleagues like is done in WWE. Believe it or not, the boys in the back pop the same way the crowd does for great spots. Speaking of pops, boy is it funny to see an unsuspecting bystander backstage not know when pyro is about to go off while they are standing near the monitor or the ramp.
For more positive news, several insiders have informed me that Kurt Angle is really sincere in wanting to help the younger talent. During his match when he was teamed with Team 3D against LAX, he was overheard telling LAX to not give up on the Ankle Lock right away and sell it and hold on. He encourages them to do this because it makes their characters look strong without hurting Kurt’s credibility in the ring.
Onto an even bigger surprise, several of the boys in the back were astonished by a promo that was cut by Matt Morgan for a taping that will air in the coming weeks. From what I am told, Morgan cut a 2-3 minute promo about his involvement in the Christian Cage/Samoa Joe match at Bound For Glory. Several insiders commented that both Vince Russo and Jeff Jarrett were overly pleased with the promo. One comment made by Vince Russo was “Why the hell did the WWE have this guy stutter?” What’s funny about that is that the Stutter gimmick was so much shorter than his Blueprint gimmick but everyone remembers that story line.
To give credit to TNA, they at least aren’t having Matt Morgan under the same moniker that he had in WWE. I don’t know when we are going to see him wrestle but I can assure you, whether or not it translates on TV or not, the Fans are ANXIOUS to see him in action. The crowd popped huge when he shoved Angle a few weeks back, the marks went nuts when he got in the face of Samoa Joe. They started rumors they were going to feud and people actually got on board for that match and then were greeted with despair because he is only going to be an enforcer in a rematch.
On a related but unrelated note, I am pleased to see that they finally haven’t hotshotted a former WWE wrestler the moment he arrived at the company. In all fairness though, it’s been 2 years since Matt had been with the WWE and from what I understand, he has been keeping busy out in Japan which would explain why he didn’t pop up on Indie shows across the country the same as the remaining 11 guys did when they were released at the same time as Morgan. Regardless, maybe TNA is actually building towards something with him.
In the meantime, my final piece of unreported and somewhat fun fact for you TNA fans out there, Don West has gained the respect of a lot of the talent backstage. Don himself on several occasions has said that it’s a cult following out there in Wrestling and he is trying his best to keep up. He was amazed by how many people didn't give him a chance and instantly dismissed him. He expected not to be accepted at first but worked hard on trying to earn the respect of his colleagues. While he may not be as polished at the announce table as a few other guys, he has certainly worked his way far from the “Guy Who Sells Baseball Cards on Home Shopping Network Late at night” persona. On the flip side, it would be nice if he can disagree a few times with Mike Tenay. What, Don West agrees with what Mike Tenay says? “YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME”
Well, I hope you fans are happy. I have provided you with a column that is positive towards TNA and contained exclusive news not found anywhere else.
This should bring some changed messages in my in box. You are still free to reach me at TheOneNickNailer@aol.com .
So there, I did it, when it came to fun facts and unreported news, I “Nailed It”.
