do you hate protos

No i don't hate protos as i would rather have an idea of what is coming then waiting for the product to hit stores. It's the excitement as well when you sign on to your computer and see new proto's up, even though they may be invalid to the final figure 80% of the time they're pretty much the same.

Worst thread this week.

I wouldnt say I hate them, because then we wouldnt have a clue what we where pre-ordering!

Jakks are the only protos I hate, because they are the most classless toy company around. It's all about squeezing a few extra bucks out of the consumer, and anyone who thinks that it is NECESSARY for them to do so and says "it's just good business" is wrong, because the fact is, even if they released the protos exactly as they are, they would still be making a killing.

You think TNA figures, which turn out the same, if not better than the proto, aren't making a profit? Of course they are, a figure only costs 10 cents to make (it's injection moulded plastic, the same kind used to make fizzy drink bottles for Christ's sake!), so any company can afford to release a figure to the same standard as the proto and make a profit. Jakks just greedily likes to try and take that much more.

But what Jakks don't realise (but I imagine will start to realise if they keep going the way they're going right now) is that they then lose customers who view their general overall product as inferior, so it all gets sorted out in the long run. For example, how many people can REALLY say they are going to order a full set of RA 29? A few, but not many.

The protos show the "right" stuff, its the final products that don't.

I just hate those darn protos with a passion.
