You know what i noticed more than anything....no matter how many times we all bitch on this site about repaints, and remakes of the same damn figures (and there are alot) no matter where i go i NEVER see john cena figures on the shelves. maybe one or 2 of RA27 but other than that...nothing....there are tons of batistas and even the rest of sets are easy to find. i see DA helms everywhere, but Cena? nothing. its amazing...no wonder he has been the champ for so long, and no wonder they just keep making him. its going to sell no matter what.

I agree. I can't remember ever walking into a store and seeing a bunch of Cenas on a peg. Other than when they are coming fresh out of a case.

well guys like Cena obviously sell well because otherwise Jakks wouldn't make so many. BUT I don't fully understand why they sell so well.
I mean, NOW, as a collector, I only tend to buy new stars and sometimes new headscans, but I like to just have one figure of each person. But ever since I started buying figures - so even when I WAS A KID, I only ever bought 1 or occasionally 2 figures of each character. I can't understand why kids would want multiple figures of the same character.

The reason cena figs sell so well is because all the little kiddies that are in love with him get there mummie's to buy it for them.

Same. I don't get it. MAYBE if Batista sold just as well, but he warms pegs. Why do Cena figures fly off the sheleves, but 'Tistas don't?

i hate the massive amount of cena figs just as much as the next guy, but you can't blame jakks for making them if people keep buying them i guess. i can't do any estimation on the logistics of it all or the how many cena's per "kiddie" there are, but the math must work out somehow.

are many kids buying like 20-30 different versions of cena? No, it's just this: Do you realise how many children there are in the world? There is ALWAYS another child who likes wrestling, but still hasn't bought any figures, and therefore doesn't even have one Cena yet. It's not that children are buying multiples, it's just that there are that many children.

It seems like the kids don't really care who the action figure is, just as long as they get it. Most likely the parents know who Cena is and purchase him right away, thinking the child will love it. They dont understand the concept that they are playing with the a same figures, and it is cena vs cena. As long as they are smashing them into each other they have a smile on their face they stay quite. This could be a good and bad thing, as it can leave the rare figures on the pegs or they can grab a really rare figure without even knowing who it is while we search for it.

Its funny this topic comes up, since I was thinking the same thing. Cena has finally resurfaced at our local Target. It's definitely the kids that buy him up. Mysterio, Taker, Cena, Batista, and The Hardy's are among those figures that just sell immeadiately.
Also take into consideration scalpers.

Think about it. Kids like John Cena. Most kids just buy 1 or 2 figs, so if they are only getting a couple of figs, they are bound to get at least one John Cena. Kids under the age of 13 aren't represented on here and you know there are LOTS. I always see them in the stores picking up John Cena.
Those poor kids won't even get to see a CS LOD because of scalpers but they probably won't care anyway. It's those kids that it has to be rough for. I remember when I was a kid, how hard it was to find certain Hasbro WWE figs and certain G.I. Joes and back then there wasn't even an EBAY but we had card shops and other scalper type shops where they sold.
I was in the store and I saw this kid looking peg by peg by peg when Cyber Sunday figs first came out, all he wanted was a Jeff Hardy, someone stashed it on the shelf above the pegs. I really felt bad for that kid, so I got the Jeff Hardy down and I bought it. Hey it was Jeff's first fig in a long time. Now that little kid who missed out will be eating his vitamins to get as tall as me.

The last time I can remeber seeing a Cena figure was a DA5. I didn't see any DA6 figures of him, or DA9 yet.

The only Cena figure I have ever seen on the shelf is the one I bought for my DA collection.
He's definitely a hot figure.
