I would say a true Wrestling Fan is one that not only watches WWE, but likes all different type's of Wrestling. WWE, TNA etc...
Someone that watches week in and week out.
Thats all I could think of.

But you can be a fan in your own right too. Dont worry about what you think other wrestling fans think of you. Yeah, I like technical matches, but not because other people like them. Generally the longer your a wrestling fan, the more you'll start to recognize and appreciate. But wanting to learn and see more wrestling is always a plus.

I happen to like Technical Wrestling more than anything but that doesnt mean I'm a true fan.
A true fan to me is a fan that can like any form of match. Meaning they can enjoy a slugfest, a techincal, a powerhouse, any kind of match-up. You dont have to watch other promotions besides WWE, whatever you like is what you like. Doesnt mean anything at all. Perhaps you just can't get into other promotions for whatever reason, It really means nothing at all.
As long as you can appreciate what you are watching and you will tune in through the good and the bad, then that makes you a true fan in my books.

A true wrestling fan is someone who sticks around for the good and the bad in professional wrestling.

I'm sorry, but the comment about being able to watch a technical match like Benoit vs. Angle and being able to appriciate it means absolutely nothing about being a wrestling fan.
A wrestling fan is simply someone who enjoys wrestling.
Thats the problem with these forums and wrestling in general. People say others are "true" wrestling fans because they enjoy something different. Even if your a 10 year old kid that goes crazy when John Cena wins a match, your a true wrestling fan. Just because someone doesn't like technical wrestling or "strong" wrestling, doesn't mean they aren't a "true" wrestling fan.
Simply put... if you enjoy wrestling, you are a "true" wrestling fan. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Ive been trying to get into 1980's NWA/WCW and WWF stuff here lately. It can be difficult because, part of wrestling is the feuds. Knowing what all has been going on in a feud adds a lot more to a match I feel. Getting emotionally behind a wrestler or against another one. And since I didnt start watching wrestling till about late 90, early 91. A lot of the rivalries are lost on me, so its hard to really enjoy any old match from anything other than a wrestling stand point. Thats why I love WWE 24/7 and the WWE DVDs. Its a history lesson.
And as far as being there for the bad, I watched WCW every Monday more religiously than Raw up until the very end.
But I do agree with you Triple S. But I think Bruiser is suggesting that he wants to like, learn and appreciate aspects of wrestling that he doesnt necessarily know about....at least thats how I took it.

There is an ongoing argument these days about "real" wrestling fans. Now, this is a free country and you are entitled to your opinion. But people like myself who have spent years in the 'biz and people who study and appreciate the art of professional wrestling have a problem with the sea of narrow minded 12 year olds who think that John Cena and Jeff Hardy are wrestling greats. We hate to see guys that are far less talented than many of their peers get these rock solid pushes and be made into big stars. I understand why kids and retards like guys like John Cena, Batista, and Bobby Lashley so much...because that is what WWE sells you. It's very hard in America right now to realize that there other forms of pro wrestling in existance. WWE dominates the domestic market so much that many 'rasslin fans don't realize "other" promotions exist. I am not saying that everything Ring of Honor does is better than everything WWE does. I frequently criticize ROH for being repetitive and often pointless, but most of their cards are full of well thought out, compelling wrestling. When you watch guys like this ply their craft, Jeff Hardy becomes increasingly annoying. Basically what I'm saying is this: The following are the type of people who would qualify as "Cena Fan" or not a real wrestling fan. These are the people who believe everything WWE tells them: And the following are "Real" wrestling fans, they know that Morishima is better than Lashley and will argue on the internet about it: Nobody wins this argument

That's nice to hear, check out Ring of Honor, ROHwrestling.com for a great wrestling promotion, much better then WWE & TNA. They have a $9.99 PPV during the month of July.
