You know I was thinking the other day, after watching some old wrestlting tapes I have, Who were some of the best Characters in WWE/F history that never had a World Title Run... Now I'm not talking about just being a great wrestler... I'm talking about guys that had built up steam, their character's where over, Could cut promos, Could Have a main event worthy match and could have made a believable run as Champ, but just never got the chance.
First person that comes to mind is Ted Dibiase (Circa 89-91):
No Body had a character like The Million Dollar Man. He was the Ultra Heel, there was no way you could have liked him. Cocky, Brash, and Filthy Stinkin' Rich he was a heat magnet... Debiase doesn't get as much credit as being a great in ring performer either... but he was great ia great in ring technician, could work a match with almost anyone. His Promos were top notch and it's sad he fell victim to the Hogan era... could have had a better run as champ than Slaughter did as the Iraqi sympathizer. Imagine having Debiase as the Sympathizer because he wanted oil to increase his wealth, that would have been great. But it's cool He got his own title (Million Dollar Championship), which was awesome... But I Can't help but wonder what if he were able to keep that title he bought from Andre.. oh well I'll keep wondering.
Others i could make arguments for are: Roddy Piper (Circa 85-88), Mr. Perfect (Circa 90-91), Jake The Snake (Circa 88-90), Razor Ramon (Circa 94-96), Goldust (Circa 96), Owen Hart (Circa 94-95), and Kane (Circa 98 I don't Consider his lil one night reign legit).
Hell I even thought about Lex Luger from the Lex Express era..... but NAH!
I'm curious to see what you guy have to say about this topic......
