I have absolutely no clue what shows Meltzer's been watching if he thinks all of those TNA shows have trumped WWE pay-per-views. Backlash was easily the best show since Wrestlemania 22 and this year's Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania were much better than anything TNA has done. And this is coming from someone who has seen Sacrifice and can justify not calling it the best show.

yeah i mostly agree with a lot meltzer says but outranking a lot of wwe (even tho they do suck, and probably get the bad score cause 1 of our champs is cena) with tna trash. tna is downright horrible. maybe a cpl good matches if that but since they are not booked right they mean nothing. . . . . .

I'd say Sacrifice is number two, maybe number three since I haven't seen Backlash yet. I more than anyone knows TNA has had a terrible year this year but those PPV ratings are close to accurate. I thought the Royal Rumble was terrible this year. The actually rumble match was ok but theres been much better like 2001, 2002, & 2004. Cena/Umaga was decent and the other matches sucked. Sorry Hardys/MNM was nothing like the first one. It was actually quite sloppy. Other than WrestleMania & Backlash WWE's PPV's have sucked. WWE Started off looking good from like January until after Backlash then everything went down hill. TNA hasn't had many great PPV's either but they were still better than PPV's like No Way Out, Judgement Day, & Vengeance.

TNA PPV's for the past year have been garbage and i have seen them too. WM 22, Backlash, Royal Rumble were all better than anything TNA had to offer

Honestly, it's very hard to pick between Sacrifice, Backlash, & Wrestlemania. But I'd probably go with Backlash. ONS should also be ranked higher, IMO.

I think most of you aren't complaining about Meltzer, but more about TNA being #1.
Sacrifice was better than Wrestlemania, even though they were both good PPVs.
Sacrifice had only one terrible match - Damaja & Basham vs. Kip James. And that was only 4 minutes.
Wrestlemania had - Great Khali vs. Kane, Melina vs. Ashley, and Lashley vs. Umaga. Yes you can say Lashley vs. Umaga had a lot of hype but hype doesn't make a match good (Ask Brock Lesnar and Goldberg).

Also, his PPV rankings are done by individually ranking the matches, then averaging them out into a PPV grade.
And to whoever thinks Royal Rumble was good needs to get off the pot. Hardy Boyz vs. MNM was decent. Lashley vs. Test was an embarressement. Test walks out and gets counted out? Batista vs. Kennedy is a contender for worst WWE match of the year. John Cena vs. Umaga was good. The Royal Rumble match was good.
This is coming from someone who is equally a WWE and TNA fan and has seen every pay-per-view listed.

I hate internet dirt sheet writers... especially those with terrible PPV rankings Meltzer's not an internet writer. He's a very knowledgable wrestling historian who happens to write a "dirt sheet".

Honestly, not a single show sticks out to me. WWE is at an all time low, TNA is at an all time low, as far as I'm concerned, giving any specific event the crown of being the best is unfair, even the "best" were all pretty mediocre.

Ever since January 2006, WWE's ppv quality has greatly diminished. They used to be one out of every two or three ppvs was a very good one. Now they are like one out of every six or seven is a good one, and that is sad because they cost more now than they did when they were good.

I hate internet dirt sheet writers... especially those with terrible PPV rankings Dave Meltzer has been covering pro wrestling since years before you were born. To lump him in with Wade Keller, Dave Scherer or those other clowns is laughable and uninformed. (Don't even get me started on the rest of the Internet sites.) That said, rankings are irrelevant to me, no matter who compiled them. They're just opinion, so it's nothing more than conversation fodder. I simply don't care about rankings.

Yes you can say Lashley vs. Umaga had a lot of hype but hype doesn't make a match good (Ask Brock Lesnar and Goldberg). Exactly. Just because WM is the biggest show of the year, doesn't mean its the best. To be honest, I really didn't enjoy WM 23 all that much. I felt that MITB 3 was the worst so far, and there were alot of crappy matches. Umaga-Lashley bored me out of my mind, Lumber Jills? Come on. Cena vs. Michaels was ok at best. The only matches I really enjoyed were Batista vs. The Undertaker (didn't think it'd be so good) but Benoit vs. MVP was easily the best of the night. Sacrifice was just such a solid show. Cancle out The Bashams vs. Kip James, and you have one of the best card there has been in quite a long time. Well, I take that back. Looking at the card, it may not have seemed so good. But the show blew me away, it was awesome. Harris vs. Storm was such a great match. They're damn good as a team, but better as opponents.
