Shelton Benjamin, his first reign in particular. He really legitimized the IC belt during his time as Champ... it's a shame short, meaningless reigns from Santino, Hardy, and Umaga destroyed all that. I Second that. His matches against Jericho, Christian, Maven, etc were great I third that. Other Great Intercontinental championship runs lately were Randy Orton, Edge, and Jericho. However Shelton came after them.

Randy Orton, made the belt seem secondary to the World title(at the time on Raw). Now the IC title is like no where near as high.

I'm going to have to say Randy Orton. He really worked with that belt. It catapulted him to main event status. He was a great IC Champion.

Christian. Its been on a slow incline down since he last held the belt. Seriously, Orton and Benjamin? Two guys who had entertaining matches sure, but they did jack crap for the belt. The IC Title wasn't even a part of Orton's most interesting feud in 2004, that being Mick Foley. They could have easily gave it to someone else. And Shelton had nonsense feuds. Christian? Okay, yeah, it was pretty good, but who else? Snitsky? Maven (12 seconds of THAT?) Jericho at Backlash ("Hey Shelton, I want a title shot!" "Sure!")
Like I said, Christian.

Razor Ramon. Nothing will ever be better than his reign. I second that but I put Shawn Michaels up there with him. There feud was classic.

I honestly think you were under a rock during Randy's reign. He was in good feuds for it, and made it seem Prestigious again. They actually had good storylines with him and that belt, and made it seem like it was worth a damn. Not to mention he was a member of Evolution, so he was upper mid card, lower main event at the time. His reign made the belt mean something. And the fact that you said the IC belt had nothing to do with his Foley feud, further provides me with info that makes me think you didnt even watch it.

Shelton had lots of good ones including his match against Jericho that was at Cyber Sunday/Taboo Tuesday I believe. 8 months is nearly an eternity for a title reign back then.

And the fact that you said the IC belt had nothing to do with his Foley feud, further provides me with info that makes me think you didnt even watch it. What was so spectacular with Orton's feuds against Shelton and Edge? Where exactly did the IC Title come into play in his feud with Foley? The very first night, where he spit in Foley's face? Maybe, but that whole match basically revolved around the Survivor Series "Orton retired SCSA" thing. Foley's main focus was getting Stone Cold back, and Orton was an obstacle. Then, there was Backlash. Sure, it was an IC Title match. But the whole feud was about getting Orton's "Legend Killer" gimmick over. The IC Title was a secondary focus. For the rest of Orton's IC reign, post-Foley, he feuded with Jericho (briefly), Shelton, Val Venis (on Heat) and Edge. Now, honestly, what were those feuds based off of? Shelton getting a non-title win over Orton? Edge being an enemy of Evolution? There was nothing grand about Orton wearing the IC Title, he didn't help the title, the title helped him. By the way, I was live at Bad Blood for his match against Shelton, I think I saw his title reign.
