Seeing as how many of the top satellite providers are increasing their High Definition (HD) programming heading into 2008, WWE was bound to catch on. From what I've read among various wrestling websites, WWE will be offering HD programming on all of its networks (USA, CW, Sci-Fi) by the middle of 2008. I believe SmackDown and the CW channel will get it first, then followed by USA and Sci-Fi for Raw and ECW. So, I was wondering what everyone thinks of this news. What pros and cons do you guys see coming out of wrestling in High def? Will you be more inclined to watch than you normally would? Ever since I got an HD television and watched wrestling in a lower resolution, I've thought that HD might be a pretty cool thing to watch wrestling in every week. As stupid as it might sound, I'm actually planning on watching more often as I find myself watching more HD channels now with my DirecTV than channels without HD. Also, it might give you that feeling of being at the arena yourself, with the old cliche of having "the best seat in the house." So, what do you guys think?

I'm up for it. I'm currently looking to upgrade to digital cable and nab some HD channels...this would be a big plus.

I dislike it's too much money that you have to put in to it. First you gotta get an HD TV, then u gotta watch HD channels to see the HD, then you have to buy a HD or Blu Ray Player for movies, then you have to fork over another few bucks to buy the HD/Blu Ray movies.

Smackdown is supposed to start airing in HD at some point in January, I believe. It'll be interesting to see if anything has to change due to the HD set up, but since I don't have an HD TV it won't really affect me.

I'm stoked about it. I have an HDTV so and because of it, I only watch sports in HD now. Also, I believe I read somewhere the The CW Network is mandating that all of it's shows be broadcast in HD beginning January 1st, 2008.

I'm very excited about it. Football in HD is one of the most amazing experiences ever, so this should be pretty rad as well. Besides, Mickie James in HD won't be half bad.

I can't wait for this to happen. I know that I've read about how WWE said that you can see the wrestlers calling spots...But I don't mind that. I just really can't wait for this!

I can't wait for it. I know I've watched Conan in HD format, but I had to go to a different channel since the regular NBC wasn't working in HD. I hope I don't have to buy some other package or whatever. I'm a little uninformed when it comes to HD outside of actual movies and games.

I am looking forward to it. I don't see any negatives in having a better picture and sound.

Yeah, that's one of the only potential negatives that stuck out in my mind (reason for mentioning a pros/cons), but I agree with everyone that better picture quality and sound is definetly not a bad thing.

Watching a football game, you can here more on the field.

Does anybody know if we'll be able to see it in HD in the UK? I have a plasma TV, HD Ready, Digital, HD subscription, the channel that airs WWE is Sky Sports 3 (Menaing there is SKy Sports 1 and 2) but there is now Sky Sports 1HD and Sky Sports 2HD (I think) so maybe if they moved WWE programming to one of those then I don't think there would be a problem, but does anybody else know any better for the UK?

Will have to upgrade to Sky HD, which will probably cost an extra £30 a month or something.

I have a HD tv but SKY HD in the UK is far to expensive at the moment if your a new customer to Sky I think you get the box for like £199-300 but for me I was told on the phone even thoough I have been a sky customer (in my name not my folks) since 1999 I would have to pay the full price of £400 plus a one of charge of around £30 not to mention the extra £10 a month when my sky bill is already over £40 not to mention the WWE PPV's at £15 a time.
So as much as I would like it its just out of the question until the price comes down. I do not see why if I buy the box I have to pay a extra £10 a month for channels I already get.
