Ive got 9 words for you: IWA Mid South. Actually There's two words and three letters but I agree whole heartedly. I must disagree. Ian Rotten is one of the biggest douches I have ever met.

They're right. Wrestling is fake. Professional wrestling features scripted shows, with fake gimmicks, and pre-determined outcomes of matches.
While it's not something that is pain free, and does require athleticism and great skill, it is very fake.

it is fake, but you DO get hurt and you dont walk out of a match without a pain or a cut somewhere so tell them to go a horse

I let my friend borrow my ladder match dvd to show his parents and they think its extremely fake. they said that they added sound effects to the dvd to chair shots and other weapon shots. they said that they loosened the hinges on the table so they would break easier. his mom said that if any of the wrestlers really got hit like in the matches, they would all be dead is there anything i can do to convince them that wrestling is somewhat real? To be a young kid again.....

I would rather my aunts be like that at times. They have even read Edge's book. Everytime I call them they say that MVP should be fired for intentionnally leaving the ring. They still act like it is real eventhough they have read Edge's book. They are the ones who turned me Smart but ever since they have gone into total mark outs eveytime I call them.

I define professional wrestling as a performance art that deserves stronger public recognition. Sure, it's scripted, but so is any other television program or Hollywood film. Despite that, professional wrestling still requires a notable amount of athleticism and an unthinkable pain threshold, especially when working a rigorous WWE-like schedule.

Alright, its fine you think that, but I'd like some reason behind it. I have heard nothing but good things, and know first hand that he is very nice to the fans at least.

I have heard nothing but good things, and know first hand that he is very nice to the fans at least. I cant remember if it was between the ropes, or a figure four daily show he was on, but they spent half of it talking about how he is known as a giant douche in the industry and how he has a bad rep. He just defended himself by saying he is a bussiness man first and he is up front

I let my friend borrow my ladder match dvd to show his parents and they think its extremely fake. they said that they added sound effects to the dvd to chair shots and other weapon shots. This is the only really stupid point. Although, it doesn't hurt as much as you would think. Sure it will definately give you a ringing headache but it's like getting hit with a folding cookie sheet... And I have been hit pretty hard with a cookie sheet, it's definately a bell-ringer. they said that they loosened the hinges on the table so they would break easier. This has truth to it. They definately rig up their tables to make them break easier... The local indy promotion here in Edmonton used to have problems with their tables not breaking because they were like straight from the store and they were still quite reinforced. But this last show they got it right and their tables were breaking easier. Where as before it would take to jumps from the middle of a ladder to break the table (or one from one of the bigger guys) now they had no problems. However after the show, I grabbed a piece of the table that sprayed just outside of the ring and it was damp. This is because they soaked it to make the wood softer and a LOT easier to break. his mom said that if any of the wrestlers really got hit like in the matches, they would all be dead One could argue that this could be true... but that is the beauty of wrestling. For that hour or 2 hours or 3 hours depending on what you are watching, you suspend your beliefs of "This couldn't actually be done in an actual fight, you'll probably get stabbed or shot or something" but you just appreciate that these two guys do it simply for entertainment. is there anything i can do to convince them that wrestling is somewhat real? Nothing you show them will ever convince them otherwise. Don't even bother trying, it's a losing battle. You are just doing what they are trying to do. They are arguing with you to try to get you to change your stance on pro wrestling, arguing against them is doing the exact same thing. Just accept that they are just one of the many people who Wrestling just flat out doesn't appeal to... If you must stop the "Wrestling is Fake" comments (even though it is to a great degree) then just ask them what their favorite television show and, provided it's not a documentary, proceed to tell them how that is fake as well. But don't go trying to force your opinion on other people because that's just ignorant and... well, stupid -_-
