I feel like WWE is barely even acknowledging the existence of this title. Within the last few months especially, they barely mention it, there is never build when there is a title match and it's just like ... no one ever even talks about it. This belt used to be a BIG deal ... almost as prestigious as the world. They should do something with it.

This shouldnt come to a surprise to anyone. WWE always does this with the intercontinental belt.
It's a huge deal, then it's forgotten. Give it time, it'll be a big deal again.

They should just rename it the Midcard-Lifer's title because that's basically what it's been reduced to...

I know exactly what you mean. I mean, when was the last time Hardy defended that damn belt?? It's been a while, that's for sure. So much for the traditional 30-day rule...

I bet theyll take it off of him before the Rumble. Have a heel face Hardy, RKO interferes, Jeff loses. Or he just keeps his belt till the Rumble, loses to RKO, and then loses/retains the belt at WM against someone.

To me, that title has always ment more than the WWE title because it was fun seeing the smaller guys that were very talented that didnt have the size to be the WWE champ, but now its nothing more than a decoration, might as well retire the belt again. They have so much ing talent that they could use to make that title and division great, but fail to do so, instead they take that talent and throw them in random ass tag teams, while giving the belt to a guy that cant wrestle for shit, and rarely defends it. , just retire it again.

It seems like in recent years the word "repetition" has been synonymous with the name "Intercontinental championship." Either one individual will hold the title for a rather extended amount of time, or a group of designated workers will be assigned the, for lack of a better title, "Intercontinental championship duty" -- in 2005, it was Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, and to a lesser extent, Chris Jericho.
In 2006, take out Jericho, and add in Edge and Johnny Nitro.
In the last year, delete Edge and Nitro from the list, and throw Marella, Jeff Hardy, and Umaga into the fray.
Too much repetition in the division, not enough compelling television geared around it, and lack of interesting characters chasing the championship have all been apart of the problem. In 1997, you had established figures -- the likes of Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Steve Austin, and The Rock, challenging for it -- now we have Santino Marella winning the belt in his first match?
Things need to be changed, and soon.

Agree with the above coments. I would like to see some guys fighting for it and eventually see them elevate the title a bit. I would love to see a match where the I.C title holder is popular enough to challenge the WWE champ for a winner takes all (like Warrior/Hogan)
