I think its a neat idea, however, I defiinitely wouldn't be buying them as I'd never have the time to watch all that t.v. I find it hard getting around to watch old PPV's that I've been to.
How many hours of video can fit on a DVD? Each Raw is 2 hours and at approx 52 shows a year, you're looking at over 100 hours of t.v without any extras. If they did a release once a year, it would be on a pile I discs I would think and probably really expensive.

If my math serves me correct, that'd be between 5000-6000 minutes of footage. I couldn't see them putting that on a DVD set...
But, as the original question asked, would I buy them? Yes!

No, it won't happen. And if it does, there'd be so much editing it'd be pointless. Not to mention how overpriced it would be.
I'll stick to buying season sets from tape traders.

I was thinking about this recently. With the high capacity HD media format they could stuff a lot of content onto one disc. They could release 3 disc Blu-Ray/HDDVD sets a few times a year. Division by year for each release: WWE: 1997 WCW: 1995 WWE:1989 etc. They could do a run down of the year in a documentary style. Having every single episode unedited is just asking too much, but showcasing the best matches and most memorable moments in a detailed form would suffice. That way they could throw in extra rarities from Shotgun Saturday Night and WCW Saturday Night and the special shows like WWF Friday Night's Main Event and whatnot. I'd just love to see each year talked about in greater detail with attention on matches and segments long forgotten. Alright, I would probably buy a few year's worth of that.

I dont think it's possible to have an entire year's worth of Raw, Smackdown or Nitro on DVD, especially when Nitro was 3 hrs long in its heydey. Nitro should definitley be released on DVD though but with 10 shows at a time in 5 or 6 boxsets along with individual releases for 3 hour shows.

I would buy them, but I have so many on DVD that I "got".
But it is a cool and unrealistic idea.

Uh...a lot of people have a lot of season sets, I have RAW 93, 94, 96, and 2004, as well as Nitro 1995 and SuperStars 1987. Most tape traders have season sets in excellent quality, and a hell of a lot cheaper than a WWE released set would be. And Nitro was only ever two hours.

Nitro was 3 hours for more then a couple of months in 1998, I think it was sometime in March 1998 that they went 3 hours, and they stayed 3 hours until the last Nitro in 1999, then they went back to doing 2 hour Nitro's starting in 2000, they also had a few 3 hour Nitro specials in 1997.

That should be a special feature of the DVDs. Anyone who would not want this is insane. We wouldn't have to watch any of the crappy "wrestling" that's on TV today, we could just watch the DVDs.
