In a clever marketing technique WWE are editing the Great Khali's losses and making him look stronger on Indian broadcasts, in order to capitalize on their growing popularity in the country.
Khali is seen as a national treasure and market stalls, shops and other outlets are making a killing selling Khali merchandise. He is a tremendous hit amongst children who imitate his matches at school.
According to once source Indian's still see wrestling as real in most cases, and they have huge pride in Khali's domination in the WWE.
From a business standpoint Khali is a big asset to WWE and practically drives its popularity in India, so no matter how boring he may become to US fans, he won't be let go anytime soon.
With WWE's recent plan to expand in to China it would be interesting to see if they hire any Chinese stars and do a similar thing.
There are currently no reports of this type of thing happening to anyone else but Khali. Source: Wrestlezone
Looks like he is here to stay for awhile.

WWE dropped the ball with the Asian Market, they actually had some stars they could have done better, the only Asian wrestler that was actually successful was like Tajiri ( Yokozuna was Samoan ) they messed up Big Time releasing Gail Kim ( Who was a great Womens wrestler, and by the looks of it now is one of the best Womens wrestler in the US ), If WWE wanted to expand into the Asian Market they should have dropped Jimmy's hillbilly gimmick and actually made him into a serious wrestler.

Dude, WWE make a sh*t-ton of dough in Japan. It's not Asia, just China. China is alot different than Japan and other Asian countries, atleast when it comes to commerical marketing.

I'd actually be more than happy for them to bring in an indian Main Eventer that was your average Heavyweight Build and could carry the World Title. Would be a great Gimmick, an Indian Kurt Angle if you like.
But with Khali, he's going nowhere. They should just stick the US Strap on him if they want to show his domination, and have him hold the belt all the way until Wrestlemania next year, where someone like Rey Mysterio would finally beat him. Would go down well having an Indian man the United States Champion.

I don't think so. I'd imagine that atleast one of the Asian wrestlers brought into the WWE/WWF/WWWF over the years, has some Chinese in them. Tiger Jeet Singh sucked. Tiger Jeet Singh JR. retired due to injury, not his father.

Vince has PR on a much smaller scale. He appreciates it, but he's also the man behind Black Tuesday in the Wrestling World.

Well, ya know, it isn't like China is known for their amazing wrestlers, heh. or known for ANY, wrestling at all... I mean, in 2003, the People's Republic of China, had one of their FIRST pro wrestling shows EVER. It was NWA Mid-atlantic, all i know is, Steve Williams won their championship.

Gail Kim is too clumsy to be the best .Gail kim nees tight ropes to even do moves on the rope without hurting herself. also Gail Kim is not Japanese. Gail Kim is korean/ Canadian.

I mean, it wasn't like Tiger was bringing the Indian audience in, since he was mostly on WWE-Mexico, of whatever their Mexican TV show was, that was different from the US WWE shows.

I guess the example I was drilling was that job security because of a market Vince is trying to court is pretty funny. I think Khali's contract runs out when Vince gets bored of the Punjabi Giant, and the contract began when Vince realized how big he was in person. I'm just saying, Tiger would have a 20 year contract if Vince was really head over heals about playing to that market. You can be employed and not be on television.

I actually don't mind Khali, but they need to help him work on some actual wrestling moves, John Cena knows more moves than Khali.
