I was watching a video on Youtube of some highlights of the awesome match between Austin and the Rock at WM19 and during a part of the match Austin is laying on the mat and Rock kind of sits next to Austin, pushes away the ref, and talks to Stone Cold for a second. They then have an interview with Stone Cold and the Rock on the video and Austin says after the match it felt like a 500 pound weight was on his back.
They then go to the Rock and ask what was said and he basically says it was a very touching moment between them and he won't discuss what was said...but he left it at "thank you steve"..
Austin then says that he told the Rock that he loves him and that he was a friend and blah blah blah.
But basically I'm wondering if Rock was supposed to win or if Austin got injured during the match and just told the Rock like "I can't go on anymore...I'm done..."
So what do you guys think? Or do you remember hearing anything about that moment or about what was said between the two?
I just never saw that part of the match before..thought it was interesting

Yeah, Steve was really sick the morning of Mania, not being able to get out of bed. He thought he'd had a stroke.
I'm pretty sure Rocky was meant to win anyway, to answer your question.

If you watch "The 'Mania of Wrestlemania", found in the extra features on the WMXX DVD, it tells the story of the Rock/Austin WM19 match, and how Austin was in the hospital the day of the match. He showed up to Seattle that day, at the arena, knowing that his match with the Rock would be his last match - but only he knew. I think he told The Rock and JR, too. Anyways, both guys put on a clinic that night, and at the end, while Austin was laying on the mat in pain and relieved that the match was over, The Rock sat down next to him, shoved the ref. out of the way, and said a few words to him, and "I love you, man." After that match, Austin said he felt like a 500 lb. weight was lifted OFF his back.

Austin was taking to the hosiptal and stuff and barely made it to the show and put on the match.

Wow. That is amazing. You would have never guessed as that was vintage Stone Cold for you in that match.
One of the best Mania matches ever.

I always thought Rock was meant to win. Austin went over at 2 Mania's already, it was his turn to return the favor.

Its a touching story for both men as they practically went through the attitude era, raising certain levels and what not.
its a underrated match

I feel that the match lived up to the standards of there WMX7 match. Austin also talks about the match and the night/morning leading into it on The Stone Cold Truth.

In Austin's book he said The Rock thanked him for putting him over. So The Rock was meant to.

Whenever Austin & Rock were in the ring it was great, they had incredible chemistry together. And I did see the Mania XX special feature with them talking about their match, it was great stuff.

Read "The Stone Cold Truth" book. One chapter has all the answers to this, and none of it was messed up.

No, Austin had planned for it to be his last match. And it was the only thing The Rock had yet to accomplish in his career, defeat Austin at Wrestlemania.

Austin said in his book that Rock said something along the lines of, "I love you, brother. Thank you, Steve."
