The urgent meeting that took place backstage in TNA at the Bound for Glory pay-per-view a couple of weeks ago ended up being Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett who apparently hashed things out. Most of the top name superstars in TNA except for Sting (who didn’t want to take sides) went to Dixie Carter to try and force changes in the way that the product is being booked.
The main complaint was that TNA should have a more logical and traditional approach to booking. Several different names were mentioned to be on Angle’s side; however, one key person said that he was not asked to take sides. Different names were mentioned in different conversations as to what a more “logical” way entails, but right now it appears everything is status quo.

TNA canceled its press conference on Friday and has yet to start selling tickets to their December show at the Arena Monterey, which could indicate a potential change coming.

The general feeling is that Booker T is not ready to retire, so we wouldn't rule out him showing up in TNA. They have been trying to bring in a "big name" for months.
Speaking of Booker T, it is believed Queen Sharmell wants to go to college.

hopefully the main thing being discussed was stopping team 3d from destroying the entire x division on every impact.

The x-division is no different than any other cruiser-weight division. Cruisers have never been the main attraction and never will be. People are more into the heavy-weight, not into jumping, flying acrobats. If thats what you want to see; go see the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus! |

I think they need more destroying of the x-division. The x-division is no different than any other cruiser-weight division. Cruisers have never been the main attraction and never will be. People are more into the heavy-weight, not into jumping, flying acrobats. If thats what you want to see; go see the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus! Yeah, because the big heavyweight guys is definitely what brought TNA to Spike TV... |

Spike Tv didn't bring TNA to tv for any specific type of wrestling. They brought them because it was another wrestling show other than WWE. If any of you know anything about the tv business; all they care about is the ratings and the popularity of types of shows. Wrestling is a popular business; they had WWE, but they jumped ship after their contract was up, and off to USA. So they signed another wrestling company; its a huge MAN show; which is Spike's main audience...That's the only reason TNA is on Spike. The stupid X-division had nothing to do with it, so give it up!
But the Heavyweight Division is more widely known than that acrobat crap. For the semi-fan the cruiser-weight don't catch the eye or bring the money. The Heavy-Weight does, and always will be the money pot in the wreslting business.

But TNA gained recognition for their X Division. Guys like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe was what got TNA's image across, which was in turn gave Spike TV reason to put them on TV. Why don't you think there is more wrestling on the air? Because with WWE controlling the buisiness as much as it is competition is going to struggle. Spike needed a brand that was gaining recognition, and that was TNA...How? Through it's young exciting stars in the X Division. People wern't excited for Jarret that's for sure
And I'd have to disagree with this comment:

I have a lot of friends who aren't really into wrestling, but if they do watch 9/10's of them will watch for the more acrobatic high flyers, rather than the Batista/Cena/Angle/Jarret guys. I don't really know where you got that idea.
Sure for the kids, they will be drawn to the more colourful guys and the muscly guys as well, hence the popularity of Batista and Rey Mysterio (although his style is similar, and I know a lot of young kids who are drawn to that style too)
As far as merchandise, then yes, they may not sell as well, but that's not because of their style. It is common for the heavyweights to get more character building time, and as such merchandising will sell because of it.
I think you are forgetting just how popular guys like AJ and Daniels were back when TNA tried to make them popular.

Thats funny; because most people I talk to who watch WWE and TNA are into the H.W. scene. Most of them; like me have watched wrestling since the days of Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Junkyard Dog, Randy Savage, and thats what we are used too and like. Just to let you know we are in our early to mid 30's. This acrobat crap that you kids like; is so fast it doesn't even seem real. They need less flips and flying and more wrestling.
When there is a cruiser-weight type match going on; be it TNA or WWE, we sit there hoping that they both get hurt that way there's less of that crap to watch.

I'm 17 turning on 18, and most of my mates are between 18-25 who I'm talking about. I don't know what your definition of kids are, but to me, when I'm driving, I'm not a kid. And for your information there are plenty of older fans I know who enjoy the X Division more than any of the rest of TNA/WWE. If the heavyweight style you mention is what your used to and prefer, I'm not going to argue with you on that. If it's your preference that is ok, but you quite frankly are a moron if you think 'death to acrobat wrestling' as you contradict yourself. You say the X Division won't sell, and then say it's the kiddie style. Well guess what. That kiddie style will be what gets those young casual fans into the 30 year old hardcore fans down the track. Wrestling changes, if it was all like Lou Theez today, wrestling would not be as popular as it would be today. It needs to evolve. There will always be room in the modern area for both styles, but to think the X Division isn't wrestling is silly. They may flip around and all that, but it is essentially just a faster version of the mat game. It might not be the most realistic form of wrestling around, but these days very little is, because to think that a John Cena could really defeat Khali is a joke, and that's your precious heavyweight division right there. You wish injury upon them every time they step foot in the ring? Shame on you mate. That is just sad. If you don't like their style, that's your choice, but wanting somebody to injure themselves it wrong. The X Division can, and will be a selling point for TNA if they wish. If you don't like it, don't watch |
