If Sony wants to pull ahead, they are going to have to develop a game. As it stands now, they only have 3. Gran Turismo, MGS4, and Final Fantasy. Sony has lost Dragon Quest, which is such a massively popular title in it's home country. Nintendo is a crazy force in Japan, when they do things right, they can do no wrong. Fact of the matter is, especially in Japan, the war will be won by Nintendo, especially since the DS a monster and Japan is in LOVE with the Wii more than we could only imagine. Something big needs to change, and releasing a Final Fantasy may not be enough by this point to overtake Nintendo. World wide sales over Microsoft? Absolutely. Sony SHOULD be doing better than they are, ESPECIALLY here, but they aren't. By it's first year, the PS2 was a monster. Something fell apart. People just aren't jumping on it's band wagon and that's a fact. I just want to reiterate, PS3 SHOULD be doing better. I'm not hating. I like the system. Something just ISN'T coming to together for them like it has in their last two outings.

Sony lost a lot of potential customers by entering the next gen market with the overpriced PS3. It's gotten to the point now where many people don't even consider it a console. There are many who consider the PS3 to be the only Blu-Ray player worth buying. I know seven people who own PS3s, only one of them uses it to play games. And if you look on many movie enthusiast forums, that's a very common thing for people to do. I believe Sony could overcome this and the PS3 could become every bit the monster that the PS2 was, but at this point it's looking like the PS3 is the HD-DVD of consoles.

Old news. And I give you credit for waiting this long before resorting to your old tactics, but next time, you could at least spell obsolete correctly. This is unlocked. This news is from this morning. Also WF is not a spelling or grammar contest. JS This ARTICLE might be from today... But this news isn't new.

And yet there wasn't a thread about it already... so I guess I'm still right.

IDK...I own all 3 next gen systems (PS3 being my newest one) and the only reason I don't go exclusive to PS3 is because of the achievement system. I have too many friends who I compete w/ over points so unless it's a PS3 exclusive that is a must have, ie GoW3, I can't see switching completely. HOWEVER, the Blu Ray format is just amazing. Cars looks so f*cking badass. Yes I know Cars is a weak movie, but it looks so clean. I think PS3 will gain ground but unless they work and get something comparable to XBox Live Marketplace, I'll stay loyal to Microsoft, but I'll still support both companies. While my son supports the Nintendo Wii lol

A 360 with HD-DVD drive actually costs more than a PS3 that plays Blu-Ray, and comes with a Blu-Ray movie. All at once or not, you still spend more. And their Blu-Ray add on, if they make one, will make it cost way, way more.

When the console came out you didn't have to pay for a feature that you may not use.

I wanted to buy a PS3 just for that Ricky Bobby Blu-Ray movie that came with it. I might end up getting a PS3 for the Blu-Ray only, but games and internet is a plus.
But really though, was there any doubt? I mean, it's bad enough that HD-DVD was stuck in between DVD and Blu-Ray, people would always go for either the best (being Blu-Ray), or the cheapest (being DVD).

Sad thing is, I bought my PS3 to play games like Ratchet, Uncharted, Folklore, and some of the upcoming exclusives. Now it's just a Blu Ray player. I don't even watch my standard DVDs on it because some movies look like hell upconverted, and really, I don't wanna be messing around everytime I boot up a movie.

But back when the PS3 was first announced, the 360 -- which had already been out for around a year if I'm not mistaken -- cost $200 more. Sony dug a hole for themselves that they're going to have a hell of time getting out of. If it didn't double as a Blu-Ray player, I doubt it would have had the limited success that it's had thus far. Like I said in my last post, there is a lot of evidence proving that many PS3 owners aren't buying them for gaming.

Well, considering that the console has sold 10.5 million units and there are only two games to have sold a million or more copies, and one of them is a launch title and the other is Motorstorm, which is packed with the PS3 now, it's pretty evident that it's a media center first, game machine second.

Just like the PSP, the fact that it's a multi-media center saved it's ass.

As I said in another thread, the PS3 is certainly cheaper - and was all along - if you plan on watching Blu-Ray/HD-DVD movies... But that doesn't negate the fact that PS3's game selection is complete dogcrap in comparison to XBox 360's. :-\

Well give that to the fact that 360 has been out a whole year before PS3 was. I know it isn't that big of an excuse, but it does play a part.

But Sony has had PLENTY of time to develop some good exclusive games - and they haven't done so. Even the games that both systems put out at the same time tend to be better on XBox.

Oh they have, they just aren't out yet Uncharted, Ratchet, and Heavenly Sword were nice. God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII, Kingdom Hearts III, Metal Gear IV, Killzone II, Gran Turismo 5 are all on the way. Those are all pretty big games.

Well, I'm buying a PS3 now. Wonder how many people are doing the same. And hopefully HD-DVD's will come down drastically in price. Xbox 360 will always be the love of my life though.
