Stanley Kubrick.
Discuss.
Notice: I said "one of" the greatest directors. So don't fill up the thread with "He's no (insert director's name here)"
Anyways, while I'm a big Clockwork Orange fan, Full Metal Jacket is probably my favorite movie of all time and defenatly my favorite by Kubrick.

I love Kubrick, I've seen 2001 only twice both times on the big screen and I can't imagine watching it any other way. Every few years it rolls through here on 35mm and I try to make a point on seeing it wherever it's at.

Indeed. Better than all of them, at making ****ty movies. Aside from The Shining, none of his movies are worth mentioning. EDIT: I know the OP personally, and I am just ing with him for ****s and giggles. Don't take my post too seriously. I actually enjoy Full Metal Jacket, too.

I haven't seen a single Kubrick film, but I at least know of the man's cultural influence. 2001, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, etc. All agreed to be some of the finest film making ever.

Indeed. Better than all of them, at making ****ty movies. Aside from The Shining, none of his movies are worth mentioning. I find this very funny. Because, without the movie Clockwork Orange, which I guess isn't worth 'mentioning,' you wouldn't have the new Joker, all of you love so much, including myself. One of the primary influences on Heath Ledger, to portray Joker in the psychopathic and disgusting light, was Alex from Clockwork Orange. So, one of those movies 'not' worth mentioning, just spawned the character you are creaming yourself over, The Joker. Guess he isn't that bad of a director. But yeah, I like Kubrick, because all of his movies are unique and different. He isn't a typecast director that makes the same movie over and over, he made alot of stand alone movies that were amazing, and were alot of the time undefineable. He had shot some of the most iconic scenes in filmaking, just asks anyone in the movie industry. His films leave you with something more than movie and provoke thought. The suicide scene in FMJ, is one of my all time favorite scenes.

I'm not a huge fan, but Full Metal Jacket is pretty much the pinnacle of modern cinema, in my eyes.

He has bestowed upon us greatness and for that we should thank him by killing one thousand midgets. Why? Nobody will miss them.

I haven't seen a single Kubrick film. Derek, we need to talk. Kubrick is the best director ever, not my fave but he's the best.

No argument here. Kubrick is one of my all time favorites. "A Clockwork Orange" is probably my favorite of his films. I have also seen:
