If you weren't already looking forward to the Hills Have Eyes remake, check this out, from Empire online:
If you thought that Wes Craven’s 1977 horror classic The Hills Have Eyes, in which a suburban family are terrorised in the desert by a family of inbred mutants, was too intense and disturbing, then prepare yourself for the forthcoming remake – because you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Says who? Well, Craven himself, who’s producing the new movie, directed this time by Switchblade Romance helmer, Alexandre Aja. At the moment, the new Hills – starring Aaron Stanford, Kathleen Quinlan and Ted Levine – is so intense and gory that the American ratings board, the MPAA, have given it the dreaded NC-17, aka commercial suicide.
“It’s a very strong picture and we’re trying to figure out what to do with that, without ruining it,” says a perplexed Craven, speaking to Empire yesterday. “We have to deliver an R rating. We looked at it last night in the screening room and before we started, we said to Alex ‘what do you think?’ And he said ‘this is a PG-13 now’. And one of our producers said ‘Alex, can we commit you to an insane asylum if this isn’t an R?’ and then he showed it to us and ohmigod, there’s no way you would get an R for that.”
If you’re wondering why, just bear in mind that the first film featured a gruelling sequence where the mutants attack the family in their trailer, and kill nearly everyone. That sequence remains in the 2006 version, but considerably amped up.
“It's intense. Very intense. The attack on the trailer in my film was horrible, but it was over fairly fast,” adds Craven. “This one goes on almost ten full minutes. It’s fairly faithful to the original, but Alex added other things that also make it worse, what’s happening to these people. It’s protracted. It’s a long, slow process rather than being a chaotic, relatively fast process. It’s just too much for people that have to rate it, by a mile.”
Craven confirmed that Aja is still cutting the movie, and with a March 10 release date (both here and in the States), there’s plenty of time to meet the MPAA’s strict demands. But don’t worry, gore fans – “We can put it all full strength on the DVD, though,” laughs Craven. “We’ll be able to do that.”

I'm looking forward to the remake of The Hills Have Eyes. I did like the original, but I think it veered a little into comical territory towards its conclussion. Aja should keep it in "disturbing" territory where it belongs. Anyway, my review of Phantasm II...did anyone else enjoy Phantasm II the most out of any of the flicks in the series? I sure as hell did... Phantasm II (1988) Directed by Don Coscarelli -Don Coscarelli is one of my favorite directors out there because his material is so unique. You never see the same flick twice when you go into a Coscarelli picture. The original Phantasm set prescendants for it's originality, and this one is no different. The film continues the cool story of the first one, but amps everything up. It's everythin a sequel should be; it's bigger, better, and more bad ass. The gore is amped up to eleven, and the last half hour of the film is one of my favorites in horror movie history. Coscarelli's direction is wonderful. The set design and locations are really fun to look at it and incredibly creepy as well. The sense of dread and mood are sprinkled throughout the movie. Not to mention, one of my favorite movie characters of all time, played by Reggie Banister, is an all of his bad ass greatness. One hell of a fun flick and one of my favorite horror sequels of all time! Rating:9.5/10"Come on you motha!"

There is no way I'm re-buying my collection just for hi definition. No ing way. I agree. I'll never do it. well in 5 years when there's no such thing as a non-widescreen non-hd TV and the only DVD's that are on the shelves are HD you will. Like it or not, the same exact thing happens every format change. It only takes like 4-5 years usually.

I will start buying whatever I have to buy to keep my movie collection going but what I have is what I have and I won't buy it all over again.

Eh, in the next 3 years or so an NC-17 movie will win an oscar and there won't be as much controversy over it. I mean, Midnight Cowboy was rated X and it won a bunch of Oscars and made a bunch of money. But up until The Dreamers in 2003 there hadn't been an NC-17 movie since 1997's Orgazmo. Now there have been like 6 released theatrically in the last 2 years.
But for now, watch the uncut DVD.

Man am I ever glad I didn't purchase Henry:Portrait Of A Serial Killer. What a crappy movie... Henry:Portrait Of A Serial Killer (1988) Directed by John Mcnaughton -This film has gained notoriety for being incredibly disturbing and was even banned back in the late 80's over moral issues. The movie isn't really THAT disturbing, or at least I didn't find it to be, but the moral issues covered really are what make it a gut wrencher. There are no protagonists in the story, the film merely follows a gritty blue collar serial killer who is trying to live his normal life. There are no likeable characters in the film, no sense of good. The idea of the film is incredibly interesting, but it just never leads anywhere. The films run time is way too short, clocking in at just over 80 minutes, so there is hardly enough time for anything interesting to develop, which is a shame as the character of Henry seems to have a lot of issues going on. The direction is also subpar, as there is no suspense provided in the movie and the visuals are pretty awful. The film looks like it was filmed for friggin Unsolved Mysteries. Michael Rooker does a brilliant job as Henry though, and it's worth watching the movie for a his subdued performance alone, although he isn't given enough time to really have fun with the role. Not recommended. There's just nothing of note in the movie to really warrant a viewing. It's just a rather "blah" picture that is neither disturbing as a horror film, nor interesting as a crime/profile film. Rating:4/10

Watched The Prophecy last night. It was alright at best. Walken and Viggo were good as Gabriel and The Devil, but I hate all the good guys. The acting wasn't that good, but it was quite a cool story idea, even though it wasn't nearly developed enough. I liked the fight with Simon and the bad angel where he's thrown out the window. Overall, 5/10

I haven't watched Halloween 2 in a long time. I'm so wrapped up in work and Christmas stuff right now that horror is kinda taking a back seat.

As in the dead coming back to life? No, there is no chance of that happening. Do you even need to ask?

Last horror film I watched was Darkness Falls, about a kid who's mom is killed by the toothfairy, so when the kid grows up he returns to his childhood home to kill the toothfairy. Pretty average. 6/10
