You're definetly right about the foreign thing...everyone seems to love all classics and all foreign acclaimed movies just because they feel thats what you have to do...that's always bothered me. Devil's Backbone in particular, I wasn't too impressed with, but it was a decent movie It was one of those films that I was just staring at waiting for it to end. It just bored the piss out of me.

ya know i've almost gotten into the hype with Devils Backbone...truly, I was pretty bored myself. If it was not so hyped up, I probably wouldnt have thought twice about it

Speaking of foreign horror, I really need to check out more of Takashi Miike's films. I've only seen Audition and Ichi. Any reccomendations?

If the remake Halloween, I just might cry. The budget would be too big to make it work. The beauty of the original was the low budget. That's what made it scary.

I saw it and it was pretty entertaining...not great...but entertaining. It does take awhile to get the violence started, but when it reaches to the violence scenes its pretty cool and well done. The infamous "head on a stick" scene was pretty awesome and creative. The rating i gave it was i think a 8/10.

Tyler don't you know..bowlcut = EVIL.
I watched Rosemary's Baby and was completely shocked..
..AT HOW BORING IT WAS.
For years I've heard people rant and rave about how good this film was. I wanted to turn it off on many occasions just out of sheer boredom.
EDIT**
After reading, it seems like I completely bashed the film. Honestly, I didn't care for it at all. Would I watch it again? No.
However, there were some parts that could be considered "freaky" I guess. Like when she spells out Roman's in those scrabble letters and when she yells and realizes she isn't dreaming.
I guess it's like the Exorcist. Not scary at all by today's standards, but scariest thing ever in 1968?

Does anyone else think that the remake of the Wicker Man is pointless?

I think the remake of the Wickerman is pointless...One, Cage will suck...Two, he's not a virgin...Three, it's set in America and not on an Island...How can they do that?
Anyways, I just watched The Toolbox Murders, the 2004 one...I thought it was pretty crap overall, especially the acting, but the idea was good...I hated the end though, it made no sense, how come he didn't die?
Also, I don't like the new Damien...He doesn't look evil enough...And I HATE the bowlcut...

Speaking of foreign horror, I really need to check out more of Takashi Miike's films. I've only seen Audition and Ichi. Any reccomendations? My favorites are Visitor Q, Gozu, Izo, The Dead or Alive Trilogy, Full Metal Yakuza, and Fudoh: The New Generation. Overall, he's an entertaining director, but for every good film he's made, there are about 14 bad ones.

The only good part was the gore. There was really no depth to the story, they were basically tortured and there were some good images. After the first 40 minutes of useless exposition of course. If it had a story, it would've been a good TCM rip off....since it didn't, it was just a weak wannabe TCM.

Sorry dude I'm saving my movie theater gift card for Final Destination 3 lol. By the way Puropower, I thought Army of Darkness was hilarious. How can you not laugh at an army of skeletons saying the most random things ever. How about the one crawling on the ground to get Ash? "I'll cut yer gizzard out arrr". IT WAS HILARIOUS i dont kno i wasnt expecting comedy at all, so i didnt find it funny, i guess. ill prolly watch the evil deads and aod in a row next so hopefully ill like them more.and i found bruce campbell extremely annoying with how arrogant he was.

Bruce's arrogance is what makes him hilarious lol.
The previews for Wolf Creek did make it look like a wannabe TCM. If you do an homage to it, it can be good. Like Wrong Turn, very TCM with the crazy inbred bastards. Wrong Turn was good though.

This is for anyone who has seen hostel. Me and my cousin went to go see it earlier tonight. Both were excited because of all the attention this movie got and we both really thought we would get scared or disturbured or something. Really though we both just ended up being dissapointed. This movie was just bad. They barely even showed much gore in the movie. Not saying thats what makes a movie or not but that would have at least been something. The idea of what this movie is about is a great story. However i just dont get what was so great about the actual movie. People on theese forums and others are saying how they liked it or even loved it. So really after a good rant i just would like to hear why people like this movie so much?

I thought it was a decent horror flick. When it comes to horror, it doesn't take much for me to enjoy a movie. The gore wasn't extreme, but I thought it was good enough. I really liked the charachters too.
I'm not good at summary/reviews.. so that's all I can really say. I can say I wasn't dissapointed, because I didn't have high expectations going in. I wanted to see it 'cause of the hype, but I wasn't expecting the movie to really be that good, so I wasn't let down.. I was actually suprised at how enjoyable it was.
