No Country is #7 after being only on 148 screens. It made more than double what Beowulf made per theater. That's damn impressive.
Still, I expected it, the theater was packed at 1pm on Friday when I went to see it, which is rare, usually theaters are empty when I go at that time.

Beowulf is pretty good, I really enjoyed the flick alot. Lucky for me, I think it was best that I saw it without the 3D though.

I'm surprised that flick even made that much. It looked awful. CGI nude Angelina wasn't even worth the price of admission to me.

With the months and months of promotion behind Beowulf it only making 28 million is a let down in my opinion.
It should do decent over the next couple weeks, but it might not even recoup its budget.

I didnt really even know there was promotion about it. Besides the trailers over the past few weeks I only saw a short video hype trailer for it when I was at the Imax in Aug. Other then that I had no idea what it was. |

The majority of big budget movies don't recoup their budget in box office receipts. When they do, they're considered a huge success. But Beowulf will probably total at least $100 million in theaters, and make another $200-250 in DVD sales. Also, I expect it to do almost equal business this week, it's one of the biggest box office weeks of the year. |

Oh, I did not know that. Is Xmas break anywhere in the big weekends? I do know alot of people who see movies around then. Especially on Xmas day.
