Anyone planning on watching this tonight?
(And Monday...and Tuesday...)
The whole "Wizard of Oz in Space" concept intrigues me.
And while I'm fully aware that Zooey Deschanel couldn't act her way out of a paper bag (go watch Almost Famous or Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy if you don't believe me), I'm hoping the combination of Alan Cumming, Neal McDonough, and Richard Dreyfuss can mask that.

I liked the wizard of oz, so i plan on watching this when i get the chance. From what i've seen in the previews, it doesn't look that great, but i won't know if it's any good untill after i watch it.

I'd watch it if I got the Sci Fi Channel. Hopefully it'll come out on DVD or I'll just have to "access it online through completely legal means, I can assure you."

I'm not putting great hopes into anything SciFi puts out but it could be an entertaining watch, which is really what I would be looking for in it.

When will people learn to not watch these Sci-Fi made for TV movies? If everyone stops watching, eventually they'll have to stop making them.

At my highschool, the winter play was The Wizard of Oz. Im friends with the girl who played dorothy in the play. So afterschool I mentioned the show Tin Man to her and she (and people around her at the time) went ballistic. haha. I guess they wont be watching the show. In my opinion, it looks like it could be interesting

No one survived Tin Man. My mom fell asleep, my girlfriend turned it off before the first hour was over, and my friend's currently telling me how boring it was. I'm glad I missed it!

There is also a new Oz trilogy in preproduction if I'm not mistaken. Unless they've canceled it or something since the last time I read up on it. It's supposed to be more directly related to the novels instead of being all musical and all that. It's supposed to be much darker. I expect it to be about as dark as the Harry Potter films or something. The novels are seriously awesome. A new Oz closer based to it's original material is long overdue but all of the insane Oz buffs of the original film have always kept it from happening. These are the days when it could happen though as they'll remake anything.

From what I watched, part 1 wasn't bad, although I still say Deschanel can't act.

I have watched about the first 25 minutes on a replay, and it is painfully boring.

See, I always I have been a SciFi, Horror, and Fantasy junkie. Books, im a bit more apprehensive on what I read but I will watch a movie all the way through even if it has no point, but has something amusing to it, I dont look for godlike things everytime I watch something.
I sat down and watched part one last night and thought it is not like the greatest movie ever to grace the earth or not a original story plot but instead is reinventing an old fav. I think it turned into something atleast worth watching.
The idea of what a "Tin Man" was. The idealism for the flying monkeys gave some cool thought. Though the cowardly lion makes much sense, I have not quite got where courage plays in yet, but that could still come. Each character mimics their original portrayals but gives us a diff way of looking at it.
The two children being of one mother, the robot(fake) parents. I dont know, I will watch it all the way through and prolly enjoy it. I think anymore people will not enjoy a movie if it doesnt relate directly to something they know. Granted, I think the books should be done in the way the author intended but this is not what was meant here. This was merely a new perspective on a story quite old and should be taken as thus.
So I will see if the storyline continues to entertain me tonight.

From what the trailers look like it doesn't seem so bad. She isn't a bad actress she just hasn't had a role that challnges her to act in a way that is different enough. Jessica Biel IMO is the same way. There are just not a lot of complex female characters out there all the time. Eva Green is one example of an actress that has gone beyond call and duty to do the best she can with her characters.
Anyway I'll prolly watch it when it comes out on DVD.
