LOS ANGELES (AP) — Pimp C, one-half of the veteran Houston rap group UGK, was found dead in an upscale hotel on Tuesday. He was 33.
"It is with great regret that I must confirm that Chad Butler aka Pimp C, one half of the legendary UGK, was in fact discovered dead this morning," his publicist, Nancy Byron, said in a statement. "Manager Rick Martin is asking that everyone please respect his family and those close to him at this time and refrain from rumors and innuendo."
Pimp C, born Chad Butler, was found dead in the Mondrian hotel, a longtime music-industry hangout.
But it was rap music that would become his passion. Together with Bernard "Bun B" Freeman, Butler's friend since junior high, they started UGK, short for Underground Kingz.

Horrible news. UGK was one of my favorite rap groups of all time. Even though I always liked Bun B more than Pimp C, its still a huge loss in the Rap scene.

considering big name deaths usually come in threes, this would make #2 with Sean Taylor. Whoever 3 is, hope it isn't another wrestler. We've had far too many this year.

I've never heard of him ever. And that statement about the rock person dying or whatever is because people have heard of them most likely.

I always disliked Pimp C's style, something just rubbed me the wrong way, but it definitely sucks that he has died.

And of course most here have not heard of him, he's a member of a group that was known as the "Underground Kingz" meaning they weren't well known to anyone but hardcore hip hop fans, which most people here are not..

You probably would because he was a great guitarist and was shot for no reason at all. He wasn't involved with gangs or drugs or any sh*t like that.
