From darkhorizons....
"X-Men" and "Star Wars" actor Ray Park has been cast as Snake Eyes in Stephen Sommer's big screen live-action adaptation of "G.I. Joe" reports Slashfilm.
Snake Eyes is one of the original members of the GI Joe series although not much is known about the ninja master's real identity as it has remained classified throughout the series. The U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (E-7) is known for his stealth like movements and extensive knowledge of multiple forms of martial arts.
Snake-Eyes is romantically involved with fellow G.I. Joe member Master Sergeant Shana M. O'Hara, a.k.a. Scarlett. The project will hit theaters on August 7th 2009.
I was hoping this would happen! I'm 100X more excited now!

I'm completely happy with this casting... With him and Sienna Miller now in the cast, this is starting to shape up. I can't wait for more people to be announced.
And the fact that they're staying so close to source material, from all i've read, and hasbro is so involved is really cool.

Well figuring how I have been waiting for new news on this film for many years after first being introduce to the live action film idea, I am actually pretty pumped for it. GI Joe was and is the lifestyle of any kid growing up through the late-80's early-90's. There is no doubt in my mind that no matter what happens, i will be at the theatre first showing no doubt. Yo Joe!

With Stephen Sommers as the director I can't help buy have a bad feeling about this. That's what people said when they found out Bay was directing Transformers...
