Does anybody know if wal*mart edits their dvds? i bought The Heartbreak Kid & before the movie they screen was black and read "This film has been modified from its original version. It has been edited for content". I wouldnt think they would put that on a dvd if that added extra footage, i would assume that would only be if they took stuff out, but the movie still seemed like it would have been rated r. anyways, if its nothing, i'm not going to bother taking it back. thanks to anyone who can help.

It's not on every DVD.. usually the only time they do that is when it's an Unrated version.. saying that it is a modified version of the theatrical film.

Yeah, Walmart has yet to edit DVDs, lets hope they never have the power to do that.

It is saying it has been edited to fit a home tv. So it doesn't look all ed up going from a theater sized screen, to a normal tv. 90% of movies say that at the beginning.

Actually, this is 280th DVD I've bought, but don't worry, I'm sure there were atleast 2 people that read this that laughed at your reply. So atleast your post got the laugh you wanted from about 2 people. Anyways, I just found it odd that of all the movies I own, this was the first one I've ever seen that on. Thanks to those who were helpful.

Your pretty much all wrong it is not the modified to fit your screen message at all thats only on full screen dvds and tapes, and wal-mart doesnt edit dvds. It is on every heartbreak kid dvd because there is a scene that was in theaters after the credits of a 9 year old doing drugs that they took out. The joke in the film is the woman has a deviated ceptum from doing a ton of cocaine and she was so dumb that when stiller said a friend at camp when he was 9 had a deviated ceptum she said maybe he did cocaine and he was like I friggin doubt it since he was 9. After the credits they flashback to ben stiller at camp age 9 and and all of the sudden he see the 9 yr old blowing lines on his desk or bunkbed I forgot. The reason it wasnt on the dvd was they had no plans of marketing a unrated dvd for the movie and people felt it was too ed up in theaters and complained blah blah. Long story short it was a scene suitable for an unrated dvd but they were not making one. It must have slipped by the mpaa when it was in theaters.

But thankfully Syxx cleared things up above me, and made everyone who made fun of you look like fools.

The idea that walmart would ever gain the power to edit the content of some dvds to their liking is astounding. As for buying dvds elsewhere I normally rarely ever buy dvds at walmart, but with that said there are plenty of people who live in small towns and areas where a Walmart might be there only logical choice when it comes to shopping for things.
