Lyman, Reese To Launch Rockstar Mayhem Tour January 10, 2008 - Touring
LYMAN By Ray Waddell, Nashville
Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and John Reese, Lyman's partner on the Taste of Chaos tour, are assembling the first ever Rockstar Mayhem tour, Billboard.biz has learned. Slipknot and Disturbed are already confirmed.
The outing, sponsored by Rockstar Energy drink, will run in July and August and is being booked by Darryl Eaton at CAA.
In related news, Warped returns this summer for a 14th consecutive year as both the longest-running touring festival and tour sponsorship deal ever. Gym Class Heroes, The Academy Is..., Relient K, the Bronx and Every Time I Die are among the first bands confirmed.

I really do see him being able to crush Ozzfest, knowing who Lyman is friends with, he'll get a good line up that will be nothing but pure money flowing straight to his bus at the Warped tour. Smart guy, he'll undercut Ozzfest and come out on top with two big summer tours.

If those are the bands Warped Tour is pumping out now a days, I'd hope the founder would kill himself. lol lmao i made a funny. But seriously, does the majority of the original people who went to these festivals care anyone about Ozzfest or Warped Tour? I really doubt it. They both get worse every year, and I don't think I'd suffer through either one for 1 or 2 good acts that probably conflict with eachother anyway, so they can cram more Cute Without the E on the main stage. that.

Ozzfest last year was horrid, even if it was free. Hopefully they can pull out some good bands like Lamb of God this year. I was at the Vans Warped Tour as well and it was good. But if they are having bands like "Every Time I Die" and Gym Class Heroes, I'll skip this and try the Rockstar Mayhem tour. I love Slipknot and Disturbed is ing awesome.

Slipknot is not confirmed. It is just a rumour. No it's confirmed, they don't put out a press release to every major new source stating that Slipknot is on for no reason. I don't get how having ETID is a bad thing. They're one of the most fun and funny bands around. Any band writing a song about Teenwolf is a great thing. Plus the Bronx on Warped, should be a great time. From what I've heard Dillinger Escape Plan and Against Me will be on. Plus the confirmed Street Dogs and The Briggs. Guess we'll see in the next week or so when the line up is released. It's not like Warped doesn't have good bands. Last year was probably the best in awhile; Bad Religion, Bayside, Flogging Molly, Gallows, Tiger Army, Big D, Real McKenzies, K-OS, Killswitch Engage, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, New Found Glory, Poison the Well, Street Drum Corps, The Unseen, and Throwdown. That's just at the one I went to. The ones I didn't get to see like Agent Orange, Fear, Circle Jerks, The Dickies, Biffy Clyro, The Automatic, Briggs, Adolescents, Alkaline Trio, Set Your Goals, Karate High School, and Mustard Plug. Only conflict the bands I saw had were Throwdown and Flogging Molly, which worked out well cause I'm gonna see Throwdown in March. It's not like Warped doesn't have good bands, it's people's negative outlook that it's always crapty ones is why you don't bother to even look at some of the bands. Plus Nick the fact of bringing up the original people that went to it is a bullcrap point, music changes, the tour had to with it. Considering the tour wasn't as big as it was when it first started, crap changes. Still has NOFX every other year, still gets Bad Religion, etc. If it was such a crapty not punk show, the Circle Jerks, Fear, Dickies, Adolescents, etc. wouldn't play it would they?

Warped Tour is terrible, It will never be Ozzfest. Warped tour is for Pop-Punk bands, why pay money for something you will hear exactly the same on CD?

Well it shouldn't be too hard. Rob Zombie was the best thing at the Ozzfest I went to. Then I had to suffer through a 2 hour set of Iron Maiden because Sabbath and Ozzy didn't show.
X-fest was a lot better with Disturbed headlining.

Iron Maiden went on before Sabbath.

Iron Maiden went on before Sabbath. You were in Indiana at the Verizon Wireless Music Center? If so you imagined Sabbath being there. They told us before the show that Sabbath and Ozzy were not showing since the Sabbath drummer was sick and Ozzy must have just not felt like it. The only reason I proceeded through the gate was to listen to Rob Zombie. If I hadn't have been "enjoying the concert experience" I may have just left after Zombie but no I chose to stay and listen to the band who can't keep a lead singer(Iron Maiden). I can stand some of their stuff, but 2 hours. Jesus f*cking Christ.
