So, a while back, I got some great news that the long awaited DVDs of MTV's early sketch comedy show The State would be released in Fall of 07. Well they never came. I checked their website today and see:
* * * NOTE (Nov 1, 2007): We are sorry to report The State DVD is now NOT being released this fall. We worked closely with MTV to make a great DVD set with lots of extras for the show, and the DVDs are completed, but they have chosen not to release the set at this time. We don't know why.
If this doesn't come out eventually, I'll be very upset. This is one of very few shows created for MTV that were actually, you know, not garbage.

I've been waiting on this for years. I don't blame MTV for this since I don't think they expect it to be a big seller. It's probably going to be at least 4 discs, which means it will be at least $30, which is a lot for some people. And given the show was never huge but did have a following, I think they don't think people will pay that much for it. I hope it comes out though. I'm tired of watching the eps on warped vhs.

Here is the deal on it, sometime soon, I believe at the end of February of the beginning or March, Comedy Central will be airing a special The State Reunion show, coinciding with the DVD release of the TV show. I remember Thomas Lennon and Kerri Kenney talking about it on a Detroit radio station.
So it will be out, but have to wait at least one more month. Now, who wants to rub themselves in two-hundred and forty dollars worth of pudding, ahhh yeah.
