Ornette Coleman - The Shape of Jazz to Come Wow. I don't like that album, but you get bonus points for mentioning it anyway. Very important recording.

1) "Master of Puppets" by Metallica - Got me into one of the few heavy bands I like. 2) "We Are Not Alone" by Breaking Benjamin - Stole me away from liking mainstream music and liking bands that arent necessarily famous, but just sound great.
Only two I can think of.

These are the albums that really impacted my tastes and life. A lot of these opened doors to new genres and impacted me rather emotionally, some more than others.
The Beatles- Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band They instantly became one of my top bands. It made me appreciate them and their amazing innovation at the time.
Radiohead- OK Computer This album actually took a few listens to grow. I learned to appreciate music with a deeper meaning thanks to this album.
The Velvet Underground- The Velvet Underground and Nico I immediately understood why this is so acclaimed. Listening to many of the tracks makes you feel restless and involved at the same time.
R.E.M.- Automatic for the People I got into the album during an emotional period of time in my life. My great grandfather had passed away and I was having relationship issues.
The White Stripes- Elephant The album that got me into alternative music as a whole. Jack White is one my favorite songwriters and guitarists, ever. I also learned to appreciate a more "stripped down" production due to this album.
The Arcade Fire- Funeral Not many other albums have really hit me as emotionally as this one has. I could say "Disintegration" by The Cure is a close one though.
BONUS: Animal Collective- Feels It was so wonderfully different than anything I'd ever heard before. I learned to appreciate music with more of an quirky, abstract approach.

1. Bruce Springsteen- Nebraska I was a fan of his more upbeat stuff as a young child... But hearing this album shows ow great a story teller he is, and how much pain he can put into a song.
2. Primus- Pork Soda This was my first venture into a more avant garde sound. Even though this is their best selling album, it was by no means a main stream effort, and Les Claypool's bass playing is just brilliant.
3. Quiet Riot- Metal Health While not one of my favorite albums now, this is one of the first albums that made me develop my own taste in music.
4. Nirvana- Nevermind Thoguh they had better albums to follow, this is what entered me into the world of Grunge, and therefore deserves to be on this list.
5. The Blood Brothers- Crimes Insanity put to song is the only way to describe this. Many opinions I had about music changed when I heard this album. The intensity is so potent.
Honorable mention: The Residents No album, just them... They have to be heard to be believed. Absolute brilliants artists, if not the best musicians.
