A combination of wrestling and hardcore fighting…
Isn’t that what ECW perfected?
Well, where were the ECW now? They and fellow giants WCW had been bought out by the devil in disguise, the WWF’s Vince McMahon.
Paul E. Heyman had sold his soul to McMahon and his ECW fans were pissed off. It wasn’t just that though, a lot of the ECW wrestlers were pissed off too… The ones who didn’t get a contract of course.
April 2002
A year after the buying out of ECW and WCW, and many of the wrestlers who worked for those companies were still left on a poor looking independent scene where nothing could be guaranteed and money was short.
The wrestlers felt cheated, and they had no reason not to. Heyman had bailed on them and without ECW, could any independent company ever match the adrenaline rush and have the same atmosphere that ECW did?
There was a lot of questions to be answered and when multi-millionaire and wrestling enthusiast Graham Jones started up a promotion and instructed close friend David Hawes as promoter, the wrestling scene began to talk ECW again.
The pair thought about it logically. They knew how much of an impact ECW made on the world, and even though it was a small promotion it still showed a great threat to the bigger companies. They agreed to follow in ECW’s footsteps. They knew it wasn’t all that original, but they also knew how successful ECW was, and they wanted to encourage ex-ECW fans to jump onto a new bandwagon, that wasn’t all that different from what they already knew…
This gave us SWF. Supreme Wrestling Federation.

SWF Weekly Warfare PPV 1 - May 2nd 2002
The show opens up to the back where The Pitbulls are standing. Both are members of The Agency. They are backstage to talk about their SWF Tag Team Championships match against The Chair Swinging Freaks, Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney.
Gary: Tonight, Chair Swinging Freaks we’re sorry to say that you’ve met your match. In that ring you’ll be meeting two very angry
Anthony: (Growls)
Gary: Fearsome aggressive Pitbulls
Anthony: (Laughs and snaps chain)
Gary: We’re gonna rip you apart
Anthony: You said it. Balls, Axl, tonight we make it your last
Gary: Haha yeah, the Agency reigns supreme tonight and if you wanna make an issue outta that you’ll have to make it before the match cause there won’t be nothing left
(Gary and Anthony laugh again before pulling a threatening face and growling at the camera)
Sabu, The Sandman and New Jack vs. Barry Windham, Colt Cabana and Steve Corino
Sabu, Sandman and New Jack tried to exploit Colt Cabana’s inexperience by any means necessary. Cabana was also a man not used to the hardcore rules the three obeyed. Windham, Cabana and Corino were the more technically sound team by default but when the opponents have never quit before, it doesn’t come in too handy. Corino did isolate Sandman with chairshots to the knee and then a vicious figure four, which Ric Flair would have been proud of. Windham was finished after the Arabian Facebuster from Sabu.
Winners: Sabu, The Sandman and New Jack
Next we went backstage to a dressing room where The Agency (Joel Gertner, The Pitbulls and The Steiner Brothers) were talking.
Gertner: Guys tonight, we’re gonna make a big splash and I don’t mean what you do in your girlfriend’s mouths every Friday.
Scott Steiner: Gertner cut the crap.
(Gertner looks terrified)
Scott: Tonight’s about titles and I got a message for that Latino punk Eddie Guerrero. Eddie, if you think you got a chance against me tonight, you better just watch your back. ‘Cos there ain’t no way Big Poppa Pump ain’t gonna do anything he can to get to the world title.
(Pitbulls look at the camera menacingly)
Scott: And then I got a message to whoever else is in this tournament. You better not waste your energy in your match, ‘cos when you get to me I’m gonna hook you in the Steiner Recliner… Watch your little ass pass out, and then I’m gonna take the title I deserve and I’m gonna find me some honeyz! Ain’t nobody gonna stop us.
(They all laugh)
Gertner: C’mon boys, let’s go get a lay. (Gertner grins perversely)
(Rick Steiner barks angrily)
Rick Steiner w/Joel Gertner vs. Roadie James
The match was pretty even. Even though a heel, everyone in the crowd enjoyed barking along with Steiner. Gertner got involved frequently, whenever Steiner allowed him to until James caught him with a punch to much applaud from the crowd. James started getting the better of Steiner and hit him with the pump handle slam. When it seemed like James was about to the get the three count, from out of nowhere Konnan dragged out the referee. With James distracted, Steiner charged into him with the Steinerline to pick up the victory. After the victory, Konnan got into the ring and beat-down Roadie James leaving him out-cold.
Winner: Rick Steiner
We cut to the back to see newcomer Frankie Kazarian.
Kazarian: Well, well, well… If it isn’t the SWF. I just gotta say, what a boring night we have seen so far. I mean c’mon! Look at all of these washed up guys. Don’t you people want something original?
(Kazarian laughs)
Kazarian: Maybe you’re about to have some luck then. ‘Cos Frankie Kazarian is the future and I can prove it. I’m not gonna be like one of those other generic newcomers who can’t prove what their saying. I’m asking management, give me anyone… Next week. The future is bright people, because I am the future… and the future looks good!
(Kazarian smiles and gives a thumbs up pose)
We go back to ringside for the first of two SWF World Title qualifying matches.
SWF World Heavyweight Championship Qualifying Match 1: Scott Steiner vs. Eddie Guerrero
The match started with both men feeling each other out. Steiner had the obvious strength advantage and after tossing Guerrero to the ground, he tried to psyche him out with arrogant push-ups. Guerrero had the speed advantage though and easily angered Steiner with it. Making Scott Steiner angry isn’t a wise move though and when Steiner hit a dangerous double underhook powerbomb on Guerrero, Eddie realised it.
Eddie did play off Steiner’s anger for a lot of the match though and took advantage of any opening he could. When Steiner took a risky move of climbing to the top rope and Eddie got him straddled up there, Steiner was in immediate danger. Straight after came one of the highlights of the match, when Eddie hit Steiner with an amazing superplex from the top rope which took it out of both men.
When Steiner got back into control and locked in the Steiner Recliner, the end seemed certain for Eddie he somehow managed to reach the bottom rope and break the hold even though Steiner in a mad rage held the hold on and tugged furiously at Eddie’s neck. Eddie miraculously recovered though and adrenaline took over him hitting Steiner with vicious knife-edge chops, which sent Steiner into a complete sense of shock.
Then after showing incredible strength and hitting the trifecta of vertical suplexes on Steiner, Eddie managed to climb to the top rope and hit the frog splash on Steiner to win the match. Steiner looked furious left in the ring as Eddie left.
Winner and advances to World Title match: Eddie Guerrero
SWF World Heavyweight Championship Qualifying Match 2: Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Glenn Gilberti
This match being the first many have seen Misterio in since the demise of WCW, interests were high. Also Gilberti, formerly known as Disco Inferno wanted to prove himself as a wrestler after always having the gimmick role in WCW.
The match started quickly, and it was even. Gilberti with the height and weight advantage and Misterio with the speed advantage, the match was interesting as it unfolded. Gilberti tried to isolate Misterio with a swinging neckbreaker, which caused Misterio a great deal of trouble throughout the match. Gilberti had the sense to realise that it would be best to keep Misterio on the mat.
However, Gilberti was surprised to see just how determined Misterio was in the match and then Rey got a surge of energy and exploded off the top rope with a huracarrana, which Rey held onto to get the pin on Gilberti. Gilberti looked disappointed by how easily the match turned against him.
Winner and advances to World Title match: Rey Misterio Jr.
SWF Tag Team Championships Match: The Pitbulls w/Joel Gertner vs. Chair Swinging Freaks
The match started quickly when the Freaks wouldn’t allow Gertner to make a speech on the mic. The match didn’t last in the ring for very long and spilled outside onto the concrete floor. Durante wanted to get a piece of Axl Rotten, but there was no easy way to beat a man armed with a cheese grater. The same applied to Gary Wolfe who got nailed with Balls Mahoney’s signature chairshot early on in the match.
The Pitbulls eventually turned the match around as they got the match back into the ring, all four men dripping with blood at this stage. The match was nearly over when Gary Wolfe hit an awesome Death Valley Driver on Balls, but Axl managed to save him.
The fans gave a roar of approval when Axl Rotten hit a pedigree on Durante. This was the end of the Pitbulls who are dignified brawlers, they just couldn’t handle the hardcore determination the Freaks had. When Balls hit the Nutcracker Suite on Durante it was over and we had new Tag Champs.
The fans were surprised the less gifted combination of the Freaks beat the Pitbulls, but did they care? Hell no!
Winners and first ever SWF Tag Team Champions: Chair Swinging Freaks
SWF World Heavyweight Championship Match: Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Eddie Guerrero
All eyes were on this match, including Scott Steiner’s who was watching from the entrance ramp.
Even though both men had fought already tonight in high-paced matches, they both pulled out all the stops. At the start of the match, the fans gave a cheer at the respect of both men who shook hands at the beginning of the match. The match started out slowly, but it gained pace around five minutes into it.
Eddie had the power advantage and when Misterio took a vicious powerbomb he was down in pain for minutes. The match looked to be over early when Guerrero hit his signature trifecta of suplexes. It would have been over if the tired Eddie could have made the pin faster.
Misterio wasn’t out of it just yet, and he’d be damned if he wasn’t going down without a fight. After hitting a top rope dropkick on Eddie, he landed a nice lionsault and held on for the cover but to no avail. When the match went to the outside briefly, Misterio impressed the crowd with an Asai moonsault to the concrete floor too.
With Misterio still in control around the twelve-minute mark, the fans saw him execute a beautiful out of head scissors bulldog, which took Eddie by surprise and left him down and out. Misterio even put Eddie in a nice armlock, and even though he escaped the hold, the pain stayed with him.
When Rey had Eddie down on the canvas, he took the serious risk of going up to the top rope for a moonsault. Eddie however recovered and straddle Misterio. It was at this point that Rey’s chance as champion was in jeopardy as Eddie hit an incredible top rope German suplex that shook the ring. The fans were still in awe when Eddie finally climbed to the top rope and landed the frog splash on Rey to pick up the victory and crown himself SWF World Champion.
After the match, both Eddie and Rey looked exhausted, but both once shook hands and then hugged. Rey held Eddie’s hand up high. After this, Eddie Guerrero realised that Scott Steiner was standing outside the ring, taunting him for the title. At this point with Eddie staring Steiner down, we went off the air.
Winner and first ever SWF World Heavyweight Champion: Eddie Guerrero
(OOC: So yeah, that's the first show, hope you all enjoy. Feedback appreciated. All the shows are gonna be Weekly PPV's until I decide on getting a TV Deal.)
