I was surprised to find that my local Media Play had stocked the new Thanos figure. I had heard it was pushed back to December. I bought the last two there (one for me, one for my friend as partial payment for my Survivor Series ticket).
I had wanted a new Thanos figure since the beginning of Marvel Legends and was salivating when I saw the prototype at Wizard World Chicago. I have to say it was worth the wait.
Thanos stands at 8 inches tall making him not only huge (taller than Juggernaut) but in perfect scale with Marvel Legends figures. He has great detail from his rugged chin to the folds in his boots. The metallic gold really highlights the overall application.
Thanos comes with 2 accessories. The first is a statuesque Death figure, unarticulated but it has great sculpting and comes with an extra face to look human. The face fits over the skull very snug.
The second is hands down the greatest accessory to ever accompany a Marvel figure... the Infinite Gauntlet. I squealed like a little girl when I found out Thanos would come with the Infinite Gauntlet as an extra right hand. The Gauntlet looks just like his regular glove except for the five 'jewels' molded and painted onto it. Also, the Gauntlet hand is in an open, clutching pose, not close-fisted like the regular hands placed on Thanos.
His articulation is impressive for a Marvel Select figure. Thanos has a ball-jointed head, ball-jointed shoulders with the upper bicep joints (like RA figures), elbows, wrists (at the base of the gloves), waist, ball-jointed hips, upper thigh joints (like the deluxe RA have), knees, and ankles. Not bad for a toy line not known for great articulation.
Sorry for the lack of pictures, but I don't have the ability to post any at this time. Here is a pic from Thejikas off the Spawn boards:
