I mean, I might pick up one or two for with christmas money but i dont really have any figures anymore except like 4 of the series 1 sportspicks and was wondering if they are good for just display or whatever. Like is it worth it to buy just to set up on my entertainment center or should i stay away from them?
thanks for the help.

I just got into them recently. I don't play with my toys, I just display them, and they look great displayed. They are super articulated, so you can put them in pretty much any position you need them to be in. They even have stands that you can set up, or hang on a nail and it hovers the characters. I'm really enjoying them, and think they are an awesome collection to take up.
Plus, I've started on ML 10, and each figure comes with a piece to build a giant Sentinel. I just need the Black Panther now to complete my monster....
Check out Fwooshnet or Marvellegends.net for pics and news and stuff.

Depends. They're worth it to me, because they feature a lot of characters I liked as a kid.

I hate these type of questions, and I'll tell you why: Its a personal preference.
I got a lot of questions about my Sin City and Warriors figures from people not only here, but at other forums: "Are they worth it?" "Should I get them?"
Those are questions you should answer for yourself. To me, my Sin City figures were worth it. I loved the movie, love the character, love the general look of the figures.
Marvel Legends are on my "to do list." KAM is the perfect example: He is obviously a big comic reader/fan. To a guy like him, Marvel Legends are probably worth it. He likes the characters, likes the figures. To a more casual fan, they may not be worth it.
This is a question you have to answer yourself.

WOJC answered this question as well as it can be answered. For me and KAM, Marvel Legends are a priority, and totally worth it. For WOJC, they are sort of on a second tier, kind of like how Sin CIty figs are for me.

The thing is, I don't even read a lot of comics anymore. But ML contains characters I liked as a kid. Some ML figures, I buy because they look cool, and then I read up on them.
Whether or not you should buy them, is up to you.

Well, some people feel an attachment to some characters. I haven't played Street Fighter regularly since like Turbo came out, but I love the SOTA figures... I felt the need to get them. I think most males(and even some females) in our age group(21-25) have a great attachment to superheroes. I don't know how things are now, but from third to eigth grade, comic books were like a religion in my schools.

Yeah, if you didn't read comics in elementary school, you were seriously lame. Which is a bizzare concept.

Yeah, I was raised on a heavy diet of comic books, DC and Marvel mego figures, Superfriends, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, Spiderman, Secret Wars figures, and Super Powers figures.
Back in my day, comics were .50 cents. Dagnabbit!

Superheroes are on an upswing. A lot of us grew up on comic books as kids in the 80's, and 90's. Now we have more disposable income, and for 7 bucks, you can get a piece of nostaligia, and a nifty looking Wolverine figure. I know a few of us collected the old Marvel toys as kids, and Marvel Legends are a fond reminder of those times.
Toy collecting is like any other hobby. Buy what you like, and only what you like.

I don't even want to ask what comics cost now... I remember paying like 1.50 for the new issues, but I generally bought used back issues for more expensive. I actually used to collect them, not the uber rare ones, as those were out of my price range...
But a good analogy is this:
If Karate Kid figures(new realistic ones, not lame kiddie ones) came out, I'd probably go out like a maniac and buy them all... because that was a part of my youth.
Action figures have evolved past toys. Action figures are a collectible made to express who you are. You walk into someones room or office and see action figures, they are usually expressions of who that person is. When you see my room, you'll see the Motley crue, and the warriors, and sin city, and the yankee sportspicks.. thats who I am. Thats the stuff I love.

3 bucks? I think that's the standard price for a Marvel comic these days. I don't know, I just hand them a 5 spot and get change back....

I don't even want to think about what my collection says about me. And currently, most comics run $2.50 - $3.00

Apparently with all my dark gloomy shit, some people think I'm goth, or something... True story.
I must be the only goth with a mustache and a peyton manning jersey.

You know what I really need to express myself?
Footloose figures! God dammit I need them!
Here's what the next Movie Maniacs lineup should be to allow me to express my childhood:
Bruce Leroy - The Last Dragon Sho'Nuff - The Last Dragon Kevin Bacon - Footloose Patrick Swayze - Red Dawn Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark Beastmaster - Beastmaster

I have a stack of old Spiderman and Transformer comics that are priced at 75 cents. If someone put out a line of Rocky figures...Oh baby. I am hoping NECA will. I say NECA, because I know McFarlane won't. Unless Rocky boxes alien or predator in the near future. I proposed this a while ago on McFarlanes board: Rocky Balboa(Rocky attire, with Rocky II chase) Rocky Balboa(Rocky III-IV Attire) Ivan Drago(Rocky Match attire with apollo match chase) Apollo Creed(USA Trunks attire with rocky II attire chase) Clubber Lang Tommy Gunn(USA Chase, regular with his other trunks) All I care for are the boxers... if they wanna make mickey, I'm cool with that... Paulie, OK... Adrian... fine, but what would you do with them?
