Is this version better than the sub par theoretical cut?

MUCH better. If you are looking to get it on DVD, pick up the director's cut for sure.

It is a nit better, and the cover art is superb. If you liked the original, you won't be dissapointed... if you disliked it, I don't think its enough to change your mind.

Personally I loved Daredevil when it came out and love the directors cut as well, it's almost like 2 differant movies which is why I would never sell my original I like them both. But if you dislike the original which I can see why some people would (its not for everyone) then the directors cut changes the minor problems with the original.
