ToyBiz' Spider-Man Classics Series 12: "Super-Poseable Spider-Man"
Price: 4.05(Plus shipping)
Purchased From: www.bigbadtoystore.com
[glow=blue,2,300]Spider-Man[/glow]
Size: Approximately 6" Tall
Accessories: Brick Wall base/action accessory
Packaging: Cardboard backed blister pack
Paint Application/Sculpt: I was looking to start a Marvel collection before the new year, and I figured who better to start it with than Marvel's main guy, Spidey. After many discussions with Marvel collectors, KAM included, I was often told that this Spider-Man figure is the definitive one. Based off of Todd McFarlane's Spider-Man art, this figure looks straight from the comic books. While his paint application isn't squeaky clean, I am almost glad it isn't... comic books often have a rough look to them, and this figure captures that perfectly. You can tell he is based off of Todd's Spidey from the head sculpt. This was my favorite look of Spider-Man, between the mask, and the darker colors, so I must say that I am pleased with the purchase.~ 10/10
Accessories: Some figures really don't need accessories. I would have been happy if he just came alone, but he came with a pretty neat looking wall type thing that can act as a base if you wish. I will probably end up putting it in a storage bin, or maybe even amongst my Sin City figures in the background. For a throw-in to an exceptional figure, its not awful. ~ 8/10
Articulation: Wow. This may be the most heavily articulated figure I've ever owned. Featuring a whopping 40(by my hand count) points of articulation, Spidey moves around like you would hope the Web-slinger would. He is very flexible, and very posable. The name doesn't lie. Despite the 40 points, most of them are seamless, fitting into the design on Spidey's costume, so they aren't too unsightly for those not into articulation. Some of the joints on mine were pretty stiff at first, but loosened up as I experimented with some poses ~ 10/10
Overall: Here we are, the first of many Marvel Figures to come in my collection(Quote me on that in a few months). Spider-Man is definately one of my favorite figures I own. He looks great, and can be posed any way you want to pose him. I am probably going to work on having him "slinging" from my ceiling at some point. While I may eventually add more Spider-Man figures, I am perfectly content with this one for now. Those of you looking for an "ultimate" Spider-Man figure, I highly recommend this one~ 10/10(not an average)
ToyBiz's [glow=black,4,500]Marvel Legends Series IV[/glow] "Beast"
ToyBiz' Marvel Legends Series IV: "Beast"
Price: 2.39(Plus shipping)
Purchased From: www.bigbadtoystore.com
[glow=black,2,300]Beast[/glow]
Size: Approximately 7" Tall(when fully stretched)
Accessories: Exercise bar "wall mountable" base
Packaging: Clamshell
Paint Application/Sculpt: I can't say that Beast is one of my favorite characters, or even one of my ideal "first" figures, but the price was definately right at only 2.39. I basically threw him in with Spidey, and am pretty glad I did. I eventually needed Beast to form the X-Men, so why not get him for mere pennies? This is the Beast I know, and love. Back in my comic/cartoon days, this is generally the way Beast looked. The blue coloring is fantastic, and the sculpt does Beast a lot of justice. It would have been virtually impossible for Toy Biz to screw up an all Blue figure.~ 10/10
Accessories: I don't think many of these Marvel figures come with real accessories, but most come with bases/stands of sorts. Beast comes with this exercise bar accessory that he can hang from, that you can mount to your wall, which I will eventually do. He also came with a comic book. ~ 9/10
Articulation: Articulation is what most people love about Marvel Legends, as they can basically be posed any way you want to pose them. Beast is no exception, featuring 39 points, including his jaw, which seamlessly opens and closes. Like Spider-man, he has some good range of motion in his fingers as well. ~ 9.5/10
Overall: While I didn't really want Beast as one of my firsts, I couldn't ignore him at the price. 2.39 is a bargain for a very good figure. While he will never be one of my favorite characters, he is a must have to form the X-Men.~ 9/10(not an average)
