Steamboat was a part of the greatest match of all time vs savage at WM3. He is in the argument.

I liked his promos... They weren't flashy but he was good at conveying a point.
Steamboat is one of my favorite wrestlers ever. I grew up a huge fan and still am to this day.
Best of all time? Maybe not. But he will always be one of the top in my mind.

As far as in ring workers go, Steamboat is one of the very best. He worked with a extremely varied set of heels in his time and adapted his style to suit each different opponent. However, as phenomenal as his wrestling was, he wasn't much of a talker which I think is something that really does prevent him from being considered the best. Also, never working heel or attempting to is something which I think doesn't help his cause. But, considering his prime came in the 80's, Steamboat didn't need to be a great talker because they're were already so many of them around in either the NWA or the WWF. That being said however, I really like his pre match promo at WM 3 before the Savage match. Steamboat was the type of worker who didn't need to be a great promo guy or a great heel because he was fantastic at doing what he did, and he became incredibly over like that, so there was no need to change a good thing. Totally agree

In terms of workrate he's in the top 5 of all time. I don't think his mic skills were awesome though.

Steamboat would have been a great wwe champ in the 80's. I think if he hadn't left after wm 3 maybe it would have been Hogan handing him the belt instead of Warrior. But best of all time no. You have to play heel.

Chris Benoit was the best of all time, no question about it.

You have to play heel. I respect Steamboat but he was never someone that was going sell a ton of merchandise or garner mainstream attention. Awesome ring skills no doubt but as many other mentioned to mild mannered for his own good. Just my humble opinion.

I gotta say, he's the most overrated wrestler of all time.
He has a series of armbar take downs and a mighty chop off the ropes and that's about it. He's also kind of stale in the ring, he doesn't play to the crowd that often.

I don't know if he was THE best ever, but he's certainly one of them, that's for damn sure. I don't know how anyone in the world can possibly deny that. He ALWAYS had a great match, no matter who he was in there with.
Ricky Steamboat has definitely got to be in the top 5 best of all-time for sure. No question about it.

He's definitely up there, but not THE best...maybe if he went by his real name, Dick Blood.

Did Flair ever do any ''SPOTS'' lol nope. Steamboat atleast did top rope moves. That's not really what I meant. It came out wrong. It is more moments. Like Flair has an enormous amount of moments. Steamboat had great matches but not moments. Where you stand up or just watch in awwww. I am not talking about Jeff Hardy "spots". Like when Dusty Rhodes won the title the first time that was a moment. When Shawn Michaels got that 1-2-3 at WM against Bret Hart that was a moment. Ricky Steamboat never really had one of those. I am sorry I used the word "spot" in referencing Steamboat but I could not think of another word at the time.

Ric Flair, Jumbo Tsuruta, Mitsuharu Misawa, Bret Hart and Kenta Kobashi round out the top five of all-time for me (in no order).
