I picked this up today, and really enjoyed it. They really did a great job of showing how mentally exhausted Batman is right now, with some excellent writing and art. Also, finally nice to see what happened to Martian Manhunter.

This issue rocked my socks off. Well, mainly just the last dozen pages or so. So the "other" Lex Luthor is Alex Luthor, and Superboy attacked Martian Manhunter, meaning they've both been out of the mirror world they were "trapped" in before Superman broke them out. And they're assembling a tower just like the ones from the original Crisis (made from the Anti-Monitor!) in an attempt to reset things. They've already gotten a representatives of 4 Earths plus Breach, wherever he fits in, with slots for three more. They've mentioned Nightshade and assumedly they're going to get Earth-2 Superman in there, but does that leave Alex Luthor or Superboy to fill the last one? My theory: they're resetting everything to Earth-Prime, where there's only one meta, so nothing can go as horribly wrong as it did with a world full of them.

I was at the time confused, as to whether the Earth 2 Superman was in with Superboy and Alex, but I guess he isn't aware.
Again, great stuff though. What I really like is, can you really blame them for trying to get their universe back? It's a very grey area, which has made for some very compelling stories. And again, I really enjoyed the mental breakdown of Batman, as short lived as it was.

I bought the Jim Lee cover. I just think it is going to end up with the superheroes against the earth 2 heroes. It was a good issue, and ithink things are starting to pick up right now.

well, it seems they want to wipe their minds, too, because Alex said as such. But it was gutsy to make Superboy a villian. Obviously this will pay off in a Superboy vs Superboy fight. But I like how its tied into the original story without actually harming anything else. I mean, they want their world back and they've probably gone a bit mental trapped there for so long.
I also have to give Johns credit for taking a god look at what comics have become since the golden age. Its kind of a commentary and I cant decide if he's criticizing it or what. But I like it, regardless. Superman 2's whole arguement of Earth 2 reemerging is surely a valid one and if the end of Crisis helps Batman become a little less dark(something he hasnt been truly able to shake since Miller's Year One/DKR stories) I'd be a little happier.
Here's a little debate I had at the comics shop. The guy there thinks that Bruce Wayne will die and become the new Spectre, Greyson will take up Bruce's mantle, Tim Drake will grow, and Jason Todd will become sort of like Azrael. Now, I honestly dont mind killing Wayne, since he'd still be around, just not AS Batman. BUT I have a new theory after IC#3. I think Wonder Woman will become the new Spectre. From what she said, how Earth is her home, to how protective she is and yet how viciously judgemental she can be, not to mention she's already got the type of attitude Spectre needs to do his job (something Hal Jordan constantly struggled against). Also, maybe tellingly, her series ends at the end of IC.
But its surely been interesting. And I cant wait to see how Lex gets back at Alex.

Also, maybe tellingly, her series ends at the end of IC. I was thinking the first one. There's a new Nightwing One Year Later, and Bruce Wayne isn't mentioned in any of the OYL solicits. But I can't see DC keeping anyone but Bruce as Batman for any extended period of time. They'd have to switch it back in time for the Batman Begins sequel, because if fans of the movie decide to give comics a try and find someone besides Bruce under the cowl, they'll most likely be turned off immediately. Wonder Woman (the title) is returning after IC after it takes a few months off. Same reasoning behind why Bruce can't stay the Spectre applies to WW, as she has a movie in the works. Although it would be a cool idea. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Earth-2 Superman will become the new Spectre. Earth-2 Superman sacrifices himself to defeat Alex Luthor and Superboy so that Earth-1 can remain and bonds with the Spectre.Spectre needs to be binded a strong soul to keep him in check, and no one fits the bill like Superman.

Bruce and Wonder Woman won't be killed to be the Spectre. Just won't happen.
But the idea of Superman 2 isn't that bad, and could work.

yeah, I do like that one as well. And you can see E2 Superman has a bond between Bruce as much as Earth Prime's does. And the whole nobility and strong will of Superman is a nice way to balance out the wrathfulness of teh Specter. Not bad, spidey, not bad at all.
Has anyone seen the new Beetle look? Ugh and a half.

I haven't seen the new Beetle look. Is that kid going to be the new Blue Beetle or something?
