Title TurmoilApril 7, 2008
Randy Orton has reigned as WWE Champion since October 2007. Nonetheless, his victory in the Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania XXIV over John Cena and Triple H was nothing if not surprising.
Pundits had dismissed his chances of emerging victorious as less than 1-in-5. Yet there he was on Raw last Monday night holding the title aloft for all to see. While there’s little doubt that both Cena and The Game have designs to recapture the gold from the Legend Killer, Orton also seems to have picked up another two more possible contenders for the throne: JBL and a resurgent Matt Hardy.
JBL confronted the reigning WWE Champion and, in typical Layfield fashion, made no bones about his intentions to gun for the title. For his part, Hardy returned to Raw last Monday seeking revenge for a punt to the head that Orton delivered to him shortly after his appendix surgery. In a match between Orton and Hardy, the Legend Killer came out on top that night, but it’s unlikely that anyone has heard the last of Hardy.
Can Orton really fend off every Superstar he has gunning for him? Is the “Age of Orton” on borrowed time?
And how exactly will Shawn Michaels respond after the roller coaster ride of emotion he’s been on recently? First, he ends the career of his dear friend, Ric Flair, at WrestleMania, then, the following night, Flair forgives him for sending him into retirement.
Exactly how spent is The Showstopper, and how much will it affect him in the ring?
In other Raw action, Santino Marella just can’t seem to let go of his ex-girlfriend, Maria. The Italian Stallion felt the need last Monday night to challenge Maria to an Anything Goes Match, thinking he could exact some measure of revenge for their split. Unfortunately for Marella, the Playboy cover girl was fueled by anger, and with the rest of WWE’s gorgeous Divas fueled by Santino’s big mouth, it was the Italian export who found himself on the losing end of a bunny beat down.
After suffering the ultimate humiliation at the manicured hands of Maria and the Divas, have we heard the last of the jealous ex, or will the Italian Stallion be back for more?
Don’t miss Raw Monday night at 9/8 CT on USA Network to see what happens.

Love how people judge before they've even seen the show.
Anyway, WWE's been on top form as of late, hopefully they keep it up come Monday.

It's time for Mickie to be on RAW and for Maria to disappear.

Last week was one of the best RAW's top to bottom that I've seen in years. I'll have to make sure to watch it again this week and hopefully the quality keeps up.
There's a number of things that have me interested now. Orton's title reign is starting to turn into something really great, and it should be interesting to see where the JBL thing leads to. And I'm actually really looking forward to this story between Batista and Shawn Michaels. Plus there's the possibility of Jericho continuing something with CM Punk. A full angle between them would be terrific. Their match last week was fantastic and given a PPV match, they'd have an appropriate length to make a classic.

Are you saying because I said I am not looking forward to Raw to much, I am judging it? NO!! I'm not. So shut the hell up. All I was saying was personally I am not looking forward to Raw as much as I have in the past.

I can't believe they referred to Santino as the "Italian Stallion"
I wish they'd just remove The Coach for the SD Commentary Team and replace him with Santino. ;D

I can't believe they referred to Santino as the "Italian Stallion" They could always use the nickname I came up with for him...the Clobberin' Calabrian.™

I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should watch this or the NCAA championship game, actually, its not that hard of a choice.
But I'll flip over to Raw during the commercials.

Hopefully Michaels will start coming out to Good Charlotte, wear only black, wear black make up, "cut" himself, and star crying evey week. Seeing as WWE is looking to have kids relate to superstars.
HBK can be the new EMO.

Calling it now, Trips and Cena will be granted a rematch against Orton at Backlash BUT before the night is out, Cena is mysteriously taken out of comission. He's filming soon or now so how can he be involvedin anything for the next 3 months or so, maybe a Stone Cold run-down job or something. I would love to see John like exiting the arena, just about to get in his car and then being Kayfabed mowed down. They would then have many options, they could stick JBL in Cena's place for Backlash. Then there is the story it gives them, who mowed down Cena and laid him out for months, JBL? Orton? or DA GAME TRIPLE H!?
How cool would it be to see H turn heel by eventually being revealed to be the man behind "Cena's incident". Then they could have the cold callous deranged Orton doing the driving i mean it would embellish his Heel-ness a lot more, then there is JBL too who would cut some awesome promos through the storyline.
Yes it is exactly the same story as the Austin run-down scenario but i think it would be cool, Trips could even hire Batista to drive JBL's limo to do the job, it brings alot of cool options and scenarios to the dance imo.
What do you think? They have to ease Cena out some way, so maybe this would be good to see?

I'm hoping the Jericho/Punk feud elevates over the next few weeks. I'd like to see a ladder match between the two at Backlash with the MITB briefcase up for grabs.

At Backlash... The Pedigree vs. The Clothesline from Hell vs. The Twist of Fate vs. The RKO Please make it so. ;D And as for tonight...I am hoping for Maria to humilate Santino....again.
