I was watching a few nitro's from 2001 and during this time Steiner was World Champion with his stable members Flair, Bagwell, Luger, Sanders, Jarrett and a few others. Anyway, when he defeated Goldberg, Booker, Sting, Kevin Nash, and Sycho Sid, they all left and some were never seen again due to WCW going under.
My Question is why were they taken out of WCW? Especially Goldberg as he was over as hell. I am sure they all were not from injuries or time off at the same time

Goldberg was ironically in a similiar storyline to Flair where if he lost a match he had to retire (however if he broke his previous streak, he wouldn't have to retire) He was pinned in a tag match by Bagwell/Luger so he could have time off for shoulder surgery. Nash was there till almost the end. He main evented the 2nd to last WCW PPV and lost a retirement match against Steiner. Probably for time off (he did the same thing not long before losing a retirement match against Hogan) Sting was "injured" by Steiner during Steiners big push as champ though this was probably for time off as well as he came back for the last Nitro.

But why did Nash and Goldberg leave or whatever? I forgot Booker came back, but why was he and Sting gone for that short time? Injury or maybe to just playout the storyline?

When WWE purchased WCW, I believe that the bought the rights/trademarcks of WCW, their video library and only a handful of their superstars contracts. If I remember correctly they bought WCW for like $5 million, I could be wrong though.

Goldberg lost a loser must retire match at Sin 2001, it was against Totally Buff in a tag match, but I can't remember Goldberg's partner.

Booker, Sid and Goldberg were all injured (though Booker made it back for the last PPV and Nitro to win the US and World titles) Nash was "retired" so im guessing it was just time off. Sting was "injured" by Steiner, i'm guessing he was just sitting at home selling the injuries or wanted time of as well.

Didn't Goldberg need some surgery or something at that time?

Damn, lol. Steiner must have been a horrible worker if Sting, Goldberg, Sid, and Booker were all injured.

If I remember correctly they bought WCW for like $5 million, I could be wrong though. I know with the buying of WCW they only got the Mid-Carders and lowers contracts. Thats why Steiner dropped the title to Booker at the last Nitro. Financially he was in a price range of a mid Carder. You notice top paid guys like Hogan, Flair, Nash, Sting, Goldberg, Steiner didnt go. Their contracts had an optional buyout clause but most of the guy sat out the remainder of their contracts and started wrestling afterwards, especially the older guys who really needed the time off

I thought Goldberg lost the loser leaves town match to Kronik. You might be right though - It might have been totally buff. I think Goldberg faught alone (handicapp match) or with Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker ( WCW power plant head trainer )

Sin was the show that WCW really fell apart.. Sid's leg exploded. It was Goldberg's last match in the company & Meng won the Hardcore title in an esential squash match, then left the company for WWE

Goldberg had a shoulder injury, which is why he was written out of WCW.

Wrestlings a work whats that have to do with what he said? I hate when people say something like that. He said Steiners a bad worker for injuring them when it was really kayfabe injuries. Steiner didnt hurt anyone Sting was fine Booker was fine...Sid hurt himself and Steiner hadnt even worked with Goldberg since Fall Brawl which was multiple months before Goldberg got retired. Steiners gimmick in this time was he'd take out all the babyface wrestlers if you read Eric Bischoffs book he explains how Steiner was going to take out all the babyfaces and then they'd all return in one night. So no, Steiner didnt injure any of them and wasnt responsible for any of their injuries.
