Slow week Civil War-wise.
Frontline this week was interesting. I think. I still need to let it digest.

Not much happened in Frontline this week, with the exeption of "the last one they'd ever expect to betray them" appearing in shadow. That'd better not be Cap or I am going to be pissed.

I really wish Jenkins was doing the main CW book. Frontline is FAR more interesting to me. Its all the things CW should be-thought provoking, exciting, and unpredictable.

Civil War is all about the personal stories, not the slam-bang action. That's why Amazing Spider-Man, Frontline, Fantastic Four, and Captain America have all been better than the actual mini.

I did like the last ASM. Finally Parker sees whats going on and what is really at stake. I was behind in New Avengers and got around to reading the Spider-Woman story and how much an bunghole Tony was...yet again.
I say this is his doing. And I think it'd be cool to have Iron Man become a bad guy. It'd be HUGE and, lets face it, sometimes I think its realistic to see a good guy fall from grace. It does happen.

It would be weird to see him be a badguy when he has his own ongoing. Anyone reading his ongoing? I started with #7 and am really enjoying it.

What they're doing with Speedball leaves so many possibilities for his future . . . if he has one. I've always had a soft spot since Speedball, the Masked Marvel #2 was the first comic book I ever had, even before I could read.

I've always had a soft spot since Speedball, the Masked Marvel #2 was the first comic book I ever had, even before I could read. Sadly, despite all the outcry about his "death" I don't see him getting an ongoing... or a successful one at that. If you look at books like She-Hulk, Thing, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man etc. that have that fun feel to them they all suffer from low sales and are in decline or canceled. The could revamp the character and give him a dark and edgy feel to him but its not the same character. The "fun, superhero action" stuff just doesn't seem to float these days despite the very vocale crowd who do love them (I'm one of the people who love that stuff).

It's sad. I though the whole "grim and gritty" fad died off a few years ago, but I guess not. I wasnt too into Thing only because I'm not into the character, but I like a fun book mixed in with all the Wars and Crisis and the like.

I wasnt too into Thing only because I'm not into the character, but I like a fun book mixed in with all the Wars and Crisis and the like. They’re out there but their usually on the lower end of the sales chart (Nextwave, Spider-girl, Marvel Team Up, Thing, She-Hulk etc)… I still love stuff like Amazing Spider-man, New Avengers, Civil War, and Uncanny X-Men etc. but there is a feel of it being made to feel epic and a very dark. It’s a lot better then the 90’s though, there is actually content in these books. It could just be me that finds a similar feeling to the top selling books… however sales do seem to support that books that are talked about as being fun online and instores, tend to fail. I like both, so I'm happy.

Wow... Civil War certainly has gone downhill. No talk about the main book or its tie ins in a month.
Everywhere online seems to be same. Very little talk and most of the talk you do find its complaints.
It'll be interesting to see how sales are.

That enormous delay certainly hurt the internet buzz around Civil War, if nothing else. It's hard to get excited about an "event" that ships bi-monthly.

yeah, I know it killed MY care in the whole damn thing. Decent story, but its urgency is hurt by its lack of books to sustain the momentum.

I just hate how there will be nothing for two weeks, then they'll drop like 6 at a time.

Check out the ML thread for my newest Civil War receiving. I originally planned to get him made back in April before Civil War happened, but didn't get the Wal-mart series till a while later, then the Post Office lost my package so I had to buy another set to have the parts to send for him, my friend didn't start working on him until August and finished him last week, and I received him today. wfigs.proboards48.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=comic&thread=1134014421&page=160#1166226257

Damn, McNiven couldn't even keep up to a 4 month late schedule.

Damn, McNiven couldn't even keep up to a 4 month late schedule. It was also apparantly partly Miller's health problems too, his doctor telling him to rest a bit too. Although it makes you wonder why he couldn't of worked on the script while McNiven was drawing the last one... you know, knocked out a few pages of script a week and he'd of been done before #5 hit stores.
