Anyone read #6 yet? I thought it was pretty good. I should have mine tomorrow. You saying it's good gives me high hopes... I really want the mini to be good. The ending could save it (6 and 7).

Well, it essentially sets up #7. But, overall I have enjoyed the story so far, so depending on your opinions so far, you may or may not agree. But I hope you do.

Some weeks, I'm disappointed by the lull.
This was not one of them.
New Amazing Spider-Man. New Frontline. New CW.
The end's coming soon, and it'll be harder than a box of nails.

CW #6 was just boring. Nothing happened. And the splash page at the end when the heroes get out of the 42 Prison to join up with the anti-reg folks could have been so much cooler.
On the other hand, Amazing Spider-Man was great, even though it looks like they're killing off either May or MJ or both. Stupid Quesada. Punisher was good, even though there was a huge inconsistency between it and CW. Frontline was probably the best of the CW tie-ins, as it was not only a great set-up to the new Thunderbolts, but it intrigued me as the the "real reasons behind the Civil War." I hope the next issue is just Urich and Sally.

On the other hand, Amazing Spider-Man was great, even though it looks like they're killing off either May or MJ or both. Stupid Quesada. YOU SHUT THE FUNK UP! ALRIGHT YOU NEGATIVE NELLIE! JOE QUESADA IS A GREAT MAN, DID YOU KNOW HE GAVE AWAY HIS SPARE INTELLIGENCE TO PEOPLE WITH IQ'S LESS THAN 52! SPIDERMAN CAN'T BE GREAT WITHOUT TRAGEDY, IN FACT JOE TOLD ME HIS NEXT PLAN IS TO NOT ONLY KILL EVERYTHING IN PETER'S LIFE BUT TO KILL HIM AS WELL. THEN GOD BANISHES SPIDERMAN TO HELL BECAUSE THIS ONE TIME SPIDERMAN DIDN'T STOP THE HOBGOBLIN FROM KILLING PEOPLE SO HE IS SENT TO HELL FOREVER AND HE MUST FIGHT HORDES OF DEMONS AND CALL HIMSELF "THE AMAZING DEMON FIGHTING" SPIDERMAN! THAT'S HOW FUNKING SMART QUESADA IS! WHO THE FUNK ARE YOU TO QUESTION HIM? HUH? WHEN DID YOU EVER WRITE FOR MARVEL? YEAH THAT'S WHAT JOE AND I THOUGHT! SUCK ON THAT SUCKER! Small post mockery insight, I also thought about spelling a lot of words wrong but then someone might think I was being serious, with the combination of only caps and bad spelling.

I hope the next issue is just Urich and Sally. It could of been alot coolor but I feel that should be wear the issue should of ended. It just seemed odd that hundreds of superhumans were going to fight but they all stop so Cap can throw around a oneliner. Frontline has dropped in quality since the delay. The increased the issue count to 11 and it's hurt it... they've dragged storylines on just look at the first one in 10. They talk about what they know about Iron Man but we never learn what it is. We learn about the traitor be we never know who it is. We're in the same place as last issue. Of course Jenkins made up for that with the Speedball story. I'll miss Speedball but this storyline wouldn't of worked without the previously established fun loving guy. I love the idea of the spikes reminding him of the lost lives... although the tailors "I can't do this" reaction seemed about over dramatic. He was fine making it but when he found out it was for himself he thought it was horrible? I can't wait for the post-Civil War world so that's got to say something.

I was waiting to pick this up in a well packaged, non-delayed TPB. Then I just had to read the latest Lying in Gutters by Rich Johnston...
Oh... wow. If someone can explain these discrepancies, I would deeply appreciate it.
Okay, so... first we see:
600 died at Stamford, mostly children
Sue Richard leaves the Fantastic Four quietly, slipping away after giving Reed a seeing to and a nice meal, leaving a note.
Iron Man tells Spider-Man that the Negative Zone prison is temporary.
Iron Man and Captain America have a Final Meeting.
The Black Panther has the Ebony Sword
Solo is in Prison
Spider-Man escapes from Iron Man, get chased down and attacked by Jack O'Lantern until he is rescued by the Punisher and carried to the Anti-Reg HQ.
GW Bridge is pulled out of retirement to hunt down the Punisher
Captain America gets codes for the Negative Zone Prison from Ryker Island
Typeface gets sent to prison.
Captain America doesn't try to make a deal with villains before the Punisher shoots them
Cable leaves Captain America's side
Later, Sue Richards begs Namor to join Captain America's side
Scarecrow and Molten Man are working for the Government
But then we see:
900 died at Stamford, 60 children.
Sue Richards has a big barney, smashes the Baxter Building up and storms out. No note is referred to.
Iron Man tells Spider-Man that the Negative Zone prison is not temporary.
Iron Man and Captain America have a Totally Different, Superfluous and Contradictory Final Meeting.
The Black Knight has the Ebony Sword
Solo is in the Six Pack
Spider-Man escapes from Iron Man, goes on Matt Lauer's show, making a speech about how he's changed his view on the Registration Act, and then joins the Anti-Reg group after meeting Captain America on a rooftop.
GW Bridge is in the Six Pack
Captain America gets a key for the Negative Zone Prison from Baron Zemo
Typeface gets killed.
Captain America makes a deal with villains before the Punisher shoots them
Cable stays on Captain America's side
Earlier, Namor begs Black Panther to join Captain America's side
Scarecrow and Molten Man are working for The Chameleon.
Um... wtf?

Iron Man tells Spider-Man that the Negative Zone prison is temporary. Iron Man tells Spider-Man that the Negative Zone prison is not temporary. The only think I can think is that he means its temporary if they sign up... it'll be there as long as they need it but if everyone agrees they'll all be let goThe Black Panther has the Ebony Sword The Black Knight has the Ebony Sword Hudlin up. Infact, if you go by the timeframe that arc was meant to be the latest Black Knight shouldn't even exist seeing as BP got that sword before his first appearence in FF.Solo is in Prison Solo is in the Six Pack The arc takes place after Civil War, so he could be out by that timeSpider-Man escapes from Iron Man, get chased down and attacked by Jack O'Lantern until he is rescued by the Punisher and carried to the Anti-Reg HQ. Spider-Man escapes from Iron Man, goes on Matt Lauer's show, making a speech about how he's changed his view on the Registration Act, and then joins the Anti-Reg group after meeting Captain America on a rooftop. That isn't what happened at all... Spider-Man escaped Iron Man and Punisher saved him (It happened in both books). Then, Amazing Spider-Man jumped ahead it time to where he revealed to the public that he was offically on Caps side. Of course, I haven't read the latest ASM so it could of changed Typeface gets sent to prison. Typeface gets killed. I got the impression that Frontline #10 was taking place during/after the big prison break out we're seeing in #6 and #7. So he breaks out and then dies. Unlucky SOBLater, Sue Richards begs Namor to join Captain America's side Earlier, Namor begs Black Panther to join Captain America's side up. I can't really blame this on Hudlin as his came out months before #6 but the editorial over there are terrible... so many problems arise like this, the ebony blade, the timeframe for the series and the fact he gave Luke Cage a costume after Bendis had been building up for years a storyline of giving him a costume.Scarecrow and Molten Man are working for the Government Scarecrow and Molten Man are working for The Chameleon. Happened after. Black Cat, Puma and Spider-Man handled them in their book... this must of taken place after. Odd its two of the same guys though. Not perfect.

Now that I had time to get to my store, I read the last few Frontlines/CW books. Ugh! While I was never a Speedball fan (I have a thread here professing as much) I hate what they did to him. Penance seems like yet another 90s reject. "I'm always in PAIN!!! ARGH! LOOK AT ALL MY SPIKES AND METAL! QUICK...GET LIEFELD TO DRAW ME!!! RRRRR!" Quesada always wanted to kill Speedball, and this seems almost like telling the fans that, instead of leaving his legacy, he'll always be here as this crap. Makes me glad DC just killed Ted Kord. IT Also bugs me that he's forever paying for a mistake he didnt even do. As we learned elsewhere, Nitro was given drugs to amp his powers up to the level it was in Stamford. The Warriors were reckless, but they didnt cause the accident. I dunno....maybe Ive become too old fashioned. I did like Punisher WZ, though. I like that Cap was entertaining the notion of allowing villains on his side and Punisher says " that". Even so, his morality (Cap's) makes him have anyone on his side follow orders. Stark seems to not care that Venom will tear out someone's heart or that two of his recruits nearly murdered Parker. While it's not out, I doubt the last issue will change my mind that CW failed because I never saw any good reason Stark's side did the things they did. It was just an excuse to have heroes fight each other. If there's any message, its not what it means to be a hero, but sort of a political arguement of properly waging a war and doing whatever it takes to win and who's right. When it began, they asked "Who's Side Are You On?" but it never gave a good reason why anyone should be on Tony's side. I could see Stark using villains. I could see SOME people agreeing with that, but not everyone that they show. Could they really imagine Bullseye and DD working together? That Venom and GG wouldnt try and bust Parker's head the moment they could? Every action they've taken is the wrong one and they never really gave much reason for anything. Usually its backed up by Tony or Reed saying its for the greater good, but thats an empty statement. How is imprisoning your friends while working with killers ever a greater good? I look forward to the final rumble and the big reveal, but somehow IC had more focus and that was dragged all over the DC universe. CW hasnt done much but make some characters act out of sorts and possibly hurt them in the long run.

Yeah, I almost never go to CBR anymore. I get most of my comic chat from right here and the comicsblogosphere.

Hey, Mr. Fantstic doesn't seem like such a jackass now. He justified his position in last week's issue of Fantastic Four, even if he didn't justify his actions. Check out legionofdoom.cheeksofgod.com/?p=368 if you want to hear his explanation, because I don't want to type it out again.
