Hey everyone. I got bored, so I decided to review an ROH DVD. This is the first time I have ever reviewed anything so please bear with me.
The DVD starts out with a promo from the Hangmen's Three. Pearce is usually a master of promos, but a promo including the shaving of Hagadorn's head, and many unintentionally gay remarks is a pass.
Jigsaw/Quackenbush vs. Matt Cross/Erick Stevens:
Decent opener to get the crowd going. Starts off a little slow, but gains more of a faster pace as the match goes on. Few nice spots. Stevens finishes off Jigsaw with the Doctor Bomb.
**1/2
Jimmy Jacobs vs. Mitch Franklin:
Jimmy's return to New York after his injury. Probably what you'd expect from Jacobs fighting Franklin. Jimmy hits the Senton followed by the Guillotine choke for the win.
*
Jack Evans cuts promo about tonight's match against former Gen Next members and how he was the best member. Julius Smokes is heard in the background doing the Vultue Squad call and his usual "Yeah Yeah Yeah!" but isn't revealed on screen. Not really much to say about it, but I think they should have saved the Smokes part for him to be revealed later.
Hangmen's Three(Whitmer, Pearce and Albright) vs. Delirious/Nigel McGuinness/Pelle Primeau:
Hagadorn is sporting quite possibly the worst haircut ever. Pearce cuts a decent short promo and basically explains how BJ found himself and how they are going to staple the mask to the face of Delirious. Pearce owns a lady sitting front row holding a Repo Man sign. Delirious runs out quickly attacking the Hangmen's Three to start the match. Nigel and Pelle follow out shortly. Match starts out fast paced. Last few minutes of the match very fast paced and filled with some nonstop action. Big Boot and Adrenaline Spike from BJ to Pelle finishes the match.
**1/2
After the match the H3 attack Pelle, Nigel and Del. Whitmer hits repeated forearms on Pelle in the ring as Pearce directs traffic. Pearce and Whitmer both hit powerbombs and Albright hits a half Nelson Suplex to a bloody Pelle before Nigel chases them off.
Cary Silkin and Ryo Nakata come out and announce Mitsuharu Misawa, KENTA and Marufuji return to ROH in November.
Delirious cuts a very loud, intense promo complaining about the H3.
Davey Richards vs. PAC:
Match starts out good. Davey controls most of the beginning but PAC gains some offense and hits an awesome corkscrew type move off the top to the floor. Davey tries to finish him with 2 Germans but PAC kicks out. PAC hits an awesome SSP kick to the head from the top. PAC taps to the Kamara. Some nice spots from PAC in this match, Match of the night thus far.
***
Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries vs. Jack Evans:
Before the match, Evans cuts a promo talking about the beginning of his own crew and reveals that the second member of the Vulture Squad is Julius Smokes. The best part about this promo wasn't even Smokes and Evans, it was the fact that Smokes has the greatest Flyers hat in history and the fact that the girl that marks for Evans is ing annoying. Aries is clearly the crowd favorite in this match. Evans takes a sick bump on a lariat from Aries. Ref takes a bump on a lariat from Aries. Aries gets put through a table from the top set up previously in the match by Strong. Richards comes out and helps Strong beat down Evans. Ruckus makes his ROH debut and hits a few nice moves and a nice dive onto NRC followed by a sprinboard 450 to the outside from Evans. Vulture Squad beat down Aries as the rest of the Resillence makes the save. Cross hits a handspring flip over the ropes onto all of them. Stevens saves Aries from Strong in the ring. Aries gets the victory with a brainbuster/450 combo on Strong. Decent match with a lot of run ins and some nice dives.
***
Intermission time with Becky Bayless interviewing Jimmy Jacobs. Jacobs explains how he got through his injury and that he has a new purpose that the fans will find out pretty soon what that purpose is. Jimmy basically explained going through rehab and such. Basically what you would expect from a return promo.
Resillence are backstage. Aries cuts a promo talking about how he's sick of sneak attacks and foreign objects. Aries tells how everything is in the Resillence's favor now. Decent promo for how short it was.
Ruckus vs. Eddie Edwards:
Edwards gets a little impressive offense in this match. Ruckus hits some nice flippy moves on Edwards and hits a very nice Corkscrew Press off the top for the win. Decent match, longer than expected and I didn't think Edwards would get as much offense as he did.
**
Chris Hero vs. Claudio Castagnoli:
Let me start by saying Hero has a ing awesome theme song as well as Claudio. Hero doing his usual flips and crapoff the turnbuckle showing off his athleticism. Great back and forth physical contest. Showing off both competitors very well. Claudio wins with the Ricola Bomb
***1/4
Claudio cuts a promo on how he proved he was the better man tonight against Hero. Good short promo
Will finish this review later, I have to go do something and will be watching the main events shortly.
