Man this guy is firing on all cilinder's at the moment! It took me a while but I added Captain America too my pull list at about #15 and it's great! Captain America taking on a more Jack Bauer type attitude... doing what has to be done but still holding up his ideals. He's not just a mouth piece for the American Dream that seems to happen with other writers. I love the character as a solo now (The first time I could say that) and will continue to buy the series as long as Brubaker is on it. I was getting Daredevil from Bendis run and again top notch stuff. This arc is really showing who Matt is, showing how grim and gritty he can be when he has to be. This run also continues straight on from Bendis which is great, I hate runs where you can tell someone new is writing the book without looking at the credits because all past storylines are dropped. Deadly Genesis was good but a little off but seeing as it was an editorial mandate story I can forgive. It's still a solid read. And now we have... Uncanny X-Men! Wow! I was blown away with the first two episodes, this is how you write X-Men. Everyone should check it out. So does anyone else like Brubaker, either from his earlier would or his much more talked about current work? He seems like he could be the next superstar writer at Marvel and I for one can't wait to see that day! *Preorders Brubaker's Criminal*

His run on Daredevil has, dare I say, surpassed that of bendis, already. Its rejuvenated my love for the eagerness, and the anticipation of waiting for the next issue.
He has actually made me want to read uncanny x men, again. Something I never thought possible, that Psylocke/Braddock story line was atrocious.
He seemed to do the undo-able in making captain america one of the edgiest books out there. A damn fine read in all of its regards. The winter soldier storyline, and deservedly so, is one of my favorite comic reads since Batman's "Hush".
Was it someone here that said Cap should be Jack Bauer, but a superhero? Any way, that seems to be just how Brubakers written him, and i couldn't be more giddy over it.
Kudos to everything hes done, I have not one complaint on any of his works. Easily one of my top 5 writers.
I just cant wait to get started reading his next DD arc, should be a doozy.

Yup, I made the connection of Cap as a superhero Jack Bauer. I think Keifer would make a GREAT Steve Rogers if they made a movie, even.
Brubaker made me read DD and Cap and they're probably the two best books Marvel puts out right now (except maybe Pak's Hulk). They're the only things I look forwar dto every month from Marvel.

The first thing by Brubaker I ever read was Deadly Genesis, which I did not like. The story was all right, but the last issue was pointless and it irked me to no end that when Brubaker wrote his story about the third Summers brother he had no idea there was a dangling plot thread about an unknown thrid Summers brother. I mean, come on! You need to know the history of the characters to write them well.
Then I read Daredevil and was floored. I have never, ever liked DD before, but Brubaker made me like it.
Then I read Cap, and loved it. I have never, ever liked Cap in his solo title enough to buy it for an extended period.
Then I read his Uncanny X-Men, and was very pleasantly surprised. My hopes for this one weren't that high given his previous work on the X-Men, but he delivered. Warpath is awesome with those vibranium knives, and Polaris and Havok are better written than they've been since they rejoined the flock a few years ago. My only dislike of Uncanny is the fact that Rachel Grey seems to just be a plot device to allow Professor X to use telepathy. If that gets corrected this could be the best run on Uncanny in a long, long time (sorry, Mr. Claremont!).
And I also preordered Criminal based on his writing credit. So yes, I guess I do like Ed Brubaker.

I see it as while Xavier brought her along to use her for her powers, Rachael is thinking this is her chance to get her revenger on the Shi’ar after what they did to her and her family. In my eyes, while everyone has been shown to have a reason on the team (Which is why I loved #475. I hate when the team is just there... for no reason other than the writer wanted them and they make no attempt to give a reason for the team) she has a very personal reason for being in space. A very selfish reason and if they cross paths with Shi’ar she is going to be the wildcard

I did say she "seems to be" a plot device, but she could totally turn it around and become the team's major badass if she gets fed up being the Prof's superpower receptacle. I wouldn't put that past Brubaker, but right now that's the only purpose she seems to be filling.
